The Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 that released a while back has been doing brisk business at the box office. In fact the Hindi dubbed version of the film has fast emerged as the dark horse at the box office. After opening to a good start, the film which received positive reviews from the critics wowed the audience. Interestingly, Pushpa which released across 1401 screens in its first week saw an increase in screens in week 2 to 1500 screens. Now going into its third week, the film again sees an increase in screen count.
As per reports, in week 3, Pushpa will screen across 1600 screens! This increase in screens in the third week is being attributed to the high demand for the film among the audience and the fact that the Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey which was slated to release on December 31 has since been postponed. Given the sudden open slot, theatre owners and exhibitors have decided on capitalizing on the chance with a higher screen count for Pushpa: The Rise.
Given this increased screen count in week three, Pushpa: The Rise that has collected Rs. 47.09 cr till date is more than likely to see an increase in collections over the coming week.

The Covid-19 situation once again has started to deteriorate especially in the entertainment capital, Mumbai. The cases have risen exponentially in the last 10 days, compelling the authorities to reimpose certain restrictions in the city. This is especially taking in mind that tomorrow is December 31, that is, New Year’s Eve, when citizens are in a mood to gather and party. Realizing that such a situation can lead to widespread Covid-19 cases, the Mumbai Police has imposed Section 144 in the city. Earlier in the day, restaurants and parties were not asked to avoid gatherings and parties.
And now, Bollywood Hungama has found out that the cinema halls, too, have been asked to follow certain restrictions, albeit only for December 31. A source from a multiplex told Bollywood Hungama, “We have been told that no show should be played beyond 8:00 pm tomorrow. Meaning, the last show of the day should begin before 8:00 pm, say at 7:30 pm or 7:45 or 7:55 pm."
The source continued, "We had got a lot of bookings for night shows of 83, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Pushpa: The Rise - Part 01 for tomorrow. As these shows stand cancelled, we'll refund the money to the viewers. Since the time we have been informed about this directive, we have stopped selling tickets of tomorrow's night shows at the box office counter."
The number of daily Covid-19 cases crossed the 3000 mark today in Mumbai. Delhi, meanwhile, has already shut down cinemas since Tuesday. The source said, "As of now, we are told to follow this rule only for a day, on December 31. We hope that in the coming days, the authorities don't impose restrictions or don't ask us to shut down. We had just restarted two months back, after all”.

Actor’s close friend Sanjay Dutt gifted a diamond bracelet worth Rs lakhs to Salman. Bollywood star Anil Kapoor gifted Salman an expensive leather jacket worth Rs. 27-29 lakh and actress Shilpa Shetty gifted Salman a gold and diamond bracelet worth Rs. 16-17 lakh.
Salman was also given precious gifts by his family members. His younger sister Arpita, reportedly has gifted him a Rolex watch worth Rs. 15-17 lakh. South Korean actress Park Min Young has signed with a new agency named Hook Entertainment. It was previously announced on December 29 that the actress parted ways with Namoo Actors after four years. On December 30, Hook Entertainment confirmed that Park Min Young has signed with the agency, which is home to stars including Youn Yuh Jung, Lee Sun Hee, Lee Seo Jin, and Lee SeungGi.
According to Korean tabloid Soompi, the agency commented, “Hook Entertainment will dedicate our full efforts as a partner for actress Park Min Young, who is receiving much love for her excellent character portrayals and sincere acting in every project, in order for her to happily focus on her acting and shine anywhere as a great actress.”
On the work front, Park Min Young is currently gearing up for her upcoming drama Cruel Story of Office Romance, which is set to premiere via JTBC in the first half of 2022. The drama is about the work and love lives of people who work at the Korea Meteorological Administration, Korea’s national weather forecast service.
Park Min Young will be starring as the frosty Jin Ha Kyung, an intelligent and highly organized individual who does everything by the book and is fastidious about keeping her personal and professional lives separate. Earlier this year, in a chat show hosted by Arbaaz Khan, Salman Khan had confirmed his film Dabangg 4. The popular cop franchise sees Salman Khan play the role of Inspector Chulbul Pandey along with Sonakshi Sinha as the leading lady of the film. According to the latest reports, Tigmanshu Dhulia is currently working on the script of Dabangg 4 for Salman.
Reportedly, Tigmanshu Dhulia has been working on the script of the film for over a year now and is expected to complete the script and narrate it to Salman next year. Salman is impressed by the basic idea that will take the franchise forward. The team also has a fresh approach to the iconic character of Chulbul Pandey.
Tigmanshu Dhulia is known for films like Paan Singh Tomar, and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster. Salman Khan and his producer brother Arbaaz felt that Tigmanshu is the right choice to take forward the story of Chulbul Pandey as he is well versed with the rural world in the heartland of India.

The number of COVID-19 cases in India has seen a massive spike in the past week. Nora Fatehi is the latest Bollywood celebrity to test positive for the virus. She was tested positive on December 28 and has quarantined herself.
Nora Fatehi's team issued a statement confirming the same, "On behalf of Nora Fatehi, as her spokesperson, would want to inform that Nora Fatehi has been tested positive for Covid on 28th of December. Abiding by the protocols, Nora has been quarantined under the doctor's observation since then and has been cooperating with BMC for the safety and regulations."
The team also clarified that the actress has not stepped out ever since she tested positive. "Amid the same, the spotting pictures in circulation since yesterday are from an earlier event in the past and Nora has stepped nowhere out recently. We would therefore request to please ignore the old pictures," the statement further read.
Nora, too, took to her Instagram handle to share an update about her health.

The rise of the Omnicron variant of the novel coronavirus has made headlines. In Bollywood too, many celebrities are testing positive for Covid-19. It all started when actresses Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora tested positive for Covid-19 after attending a party at filmmaker Karan Johar's residence in Mumbai.
Now, 90's popular actress Shilpa Shirodkar who is known for films like Hum, Khuda Gawah and Aankhen has also tested positive for the deadly virus. On Thursday, the actress shared the news through an Instagram post and revealed that she had tested positive four days ago.
Taking to Instagram, Shilpa shared a graphical pictorial in which there were two options negative and positive written in front of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and hers was ticked on positive. Sharing the post, Shilpa in the caption wrote, "COVID POSITIVE !!! #day4 Stay safe everyone, please get vaccinated and follow all the rules… your Government knows what is best for you. Lots of love".

Apart from this, Shilpa Shirodkar was also the first Indian celebrity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The actress who stays in Dubai with her family had received a jab of the Sinopharm vaccine in January this year.

Haseen Dillruba minted more than 24.63 Million views between July to December, followed by Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi which reportedly got 22.34 million, Kriti Sanon's Mimi with 21.81 million views, and Kartik Aaryan's Dhamaka with 11.37 million views.

Ever since the makers of Jersey announced that the film will no longer release on December 31, there has been a strong buzz about a delay in the release of RRR too from its announced date of January 7. However, we at Bollywood Hungama can exclusively confirm that the movie is not getting delayed at this point of time.
"SS Rajamouli and the team of RRR had requested multiple film producers - from Bheemla Nayak to F3 and Sarkaru Vaari Paata - to delay their release to make way for RRR. The team was of the belief that a film made on a budget as huge as RRR wanted to make the most during the festive season of Pongal and Sankranti. All the producers were gracious enough to delay the film to make way for RRR. The producers of all films announced their new release dates too and planned their schedules as per the new dates. RRR is the only film to release in AP and Telangana on January 7," a trade source from Hyderabad informed Bollywood Hungama.
The source also added that now, if the RRR team decides to delay the release, there is a huge possibility of it not getting a solo release in home state again. "It would be unfair on the producers of other films if RRR is delayed now. The Andhra Pradesh - Telangana market is completely functional. The government there too resolved the on-going ticket rate issues for RRR to ensure a grand release on January 7. Now, if they delay the film keeping the Hindi market in mind, all the stakeholders in the local belt would be disappointed as efforts were taken to ensure the most smooth release of RRR in AP and TG. That aside, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala are also functioning without much of ado. The release issue as of now is only in Hindi and changing the date for that market would upset the people in all other territories," the source explained.
It's a catch 22 scenario and the makers too are confused on what's to be done next, though on an ethical ground to respect the efforts and unity shown by South Indian industry, they are inclined towards forgoing the Hindi markets too. "They might renegotiate the prices in Hindi based on what the business potential is. RRR is an emotion and they are putting all the emotional interest and energies over the financial ones, even if it means loss of crores of rupees in Hindi belt. There is a possibility of reduced revenue at other places too due to covid uncertainty, but well, at this point of time, Rajamouli and his team are extremely confident of their content and are sure that it's so exciting that the audience will come out to watch the film in Southern states come what way," the trade source said.
There is also another catch as RRR has already sold tickets worth $3 million in the overseas belt and this is increasing with every passing hour. There is an insane craze abroad and it would also be difficult to refund the tickets at the last minute as the advances are in full swing with tickets selling like hot cakes. Over and above that, the team has gone all out on marketing front by unveiling all their assets as also spending a bomb to create awareness of the biggest Indian film till date. A delay would mean all the spending going haywire. All in all, the RRR team is set to experience some loss of revenue either ways and it's extremely sad to see this happen to what is the biggest Indian film till date.

Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil starrer Pushpa has been receiving an incredible response from across the country. The film originally made in the Telugu language was also released in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. The Hindi version of Pushpa surprised all with its overwhelming run at the box-office in the Northern belt. At a post-release event for Pushpa, lead actor Allu Arjun thanked the audience in North India for showering love on the film and promised that the sequel to the film will be released in maximum Indian languages.
At the success event of Pushpa: The Rise Part 1, Allu Arjun said that they tested waters by releasing the Hindi version of Pushpa and were pleasantly surprised by the outcome. “We were thinking that we want to release this film in Hindi, but we weren't sure. Because we didn't have the time to do publicity. We didn't know how much of it will convert. I know there is a pulse, which I've been seeing for the last five years on YouTube.”
Allu said how the Hindi dubbed versions of South Indian movies have the highest views on YouTube. “Who are these people all over in the heartland of India who are watching these films? Are they only watching on satellite and YouTube? Or are they even going to come to the theaters?” he said.
“I somewhere had a belief that you know so many people are watching they might come to the theaters. But we don't know for sure. As testing waters to see if the audience which I'm seeing on YouTube and on satellite, which is humongous numbers, will they come to the theaters. I wanted to test waters with Pushpa and believe me thank you to the whole of North India, you proved we are just not going to love us through digital mediums but we will come physically to the theaters to admire you. Thank you so much for that. Thank you every distributor of mine for taking me into other languages,” he further said.
Allu Arjun also confirmed that with Pushpa 2 they plan on going bigger as far as languages are concerned. “I'm planning to release Pushpa 2 in maximum number of languages ever done in Indian cinema before. We want to reach each and every language of the audience if possible. We want to reach your hearts,” he concluded.

Veteran actor and comedian Mushtaq Merchant departed in Mumbai on December 27. He was 67. He lived his last days at Mumbai’s Holy Family Hospital. He was suffering from diabetes and receiving treatment at the hospital. He was living in the Bandra area of Mumbai. Hanif Zaveri, who is a close friend of Mushtaq Merchant, informed the media that the cause of Mushtaq’s death was his high blood pressure and diabetes.
According to Zaveri, Mustaq was suffering from diabetes for the last 10-12 years and he was admitted to the hospital on December 27 after his health deteriorated. He departed a few hours after admission to the hospital. He made his debut in Bollywood with Jawani Diwani in 1972. He also acted in films such as Seeta Aur Geeta, Sagar, Fifty Fifty and Sholay among others. He had a long career spanning over two decades and performed in over 80 films.
Mushtaq was presumed to have an appearance in Sholay that starred Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. But his role in the film could not make it to the big screen, as the scenes starring him were removed in the final edit due to the length of the film. It is said the late actor essayed two roles in Sholay - train driver and a biker.
According to reports, Mushtaq had won the Best Actor award at the All India Inter College Competition held in Mumbai. He has also won the Best Writer and Director award for three consecutive years at college competitions. Mushtaq had also written scripts for some movies like Pyaar Ka Saaya, Laad Saab, Sapne Saajan Ke, and Gang.
Reports say that the veteran actor has quit films 16 years ago due to his inclination towards religious activities.

The industry was in a shock when the producers of Jersey announced that their sport drama will no longer release on December 31 following the announcement by Delhi Government to shut down the cinema halls in the National Capital. We exclusively bring an insight of all the conversations that happened over the last 2 days in the meetings of team Jersey.
"After the rising Covid cases, the team of Jersey had got a prior intimation that Delhi cinema halls might be shut soon. Hence, they had multiple meetings on the future course of action for the film, since their entire marketing campaign had rolled out and there was not much left to even promote. They had discussion with their digital partner, Netflix, who agreed to pay a premium price for a direct to digital premiere on December 31. The offer was lucrative and the producers were of course inclined to that," a source informed Bollywood Hungama.
That's not all. The source added, "They were almost sure to give the film to Netflix for a premiere since these are uncertain times and Covid will delay the film by at least 1 to 2 months, adding on to the cost and also reducing the hype around the film. They felt, instead of a hike in budget, it's better to let the viewers experience Jersey on OTT. That's when the hero, Shahid Kapoor stepped in. The actor was clear that Jersey deserves a theatrical release. When the makers pointed out the costs, the actor was gracious enough to reduce his remuneration to safeguard the film for theatrical medium."
So what next? "Shahid charged Rs. 31 crore for Jersey and without any hesitation, he told the producer that he will reduce his acting fees to the extent of the additional cost that will pile up on the film due to the delay. If the budget escalates by Rs. 5 crore, he will reduce Rs. 5 crore from his fees. If the budget is escalated by Rs. 10 crore, he will let go off Rs. 10 crore from his fees. For him, Jersey is special and he is confident that the audience will fall in love with the world that they have created. The producers were convinced and that's how they decided on delaying the release rather than opting for a direct to digital premiere."

Right-wing demonstrators set fire to the posters of actor Sunny Leone in Mumbai on December 28, accusing her of hurting Hindu sensibilities in a new music video for ‘Madhuban’ in which she was featured.
The people from the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad and the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal assembled at the Soorsadan crossing on MG Road and sang anti-Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad and anti-Rashtriya Bajrang Dal slogans. They demanded that the song be banned, as well as filed a police complaint against the actor at the Hariparwat police station. According to them, "Hindus have been offended by the new music video.”
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, on Sunday, said to take down the ‘obscene’ music video. In the wake of the controversy, music label Saregama on Sunday said the company will "change" the name and lyrics of the song ‘madhuban mein Radhika naache’ after Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra alleged the music video, had hurt Hindus' religious sentiments.
"In light of recent feedback and respecting the sentiments of our fellow countrymen, we will be changing the lyrics and name of the song 'madhuban...'. The new song will replace the old across all platforms over the next three days," Saregama said in a statement earlier this week.

The surge of the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus has been increasing day by day. In the midst of Covid returning, the entertainment industry has been highly affected by the infection with governments announcing new regulations. Now, a report by a web portal suggests that actor Arjun Kapoor, his sister Anshula Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor and her filmmaker hubby Karan Boolani have all tested positive for Covid-19. All of them are presently under quarantine and are taking all the precautions suggested by the doctor.

Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer Jersey has been postponed. Amid the increased numbers in the positive cases of COVID-19, the makers have decided to postpone the film from its upcoming release on December 31, 2021. Apart from that, the rumours surrounding the film that it will see direct-to-OTT release are false.
The announcement of the postponement was made on December 28, just days before the release of the film. The film will have a theatrical release and the makers will announce the new date in the coming weeks.

The theatres were just reviving with films like Sooryavanshi, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Pushpa bringing people back to the theatres despite the 50 % capacity rule. Now, with the Delhi government announcing to shut down cinema halls, it will have a major impact on the business of the recently released film 83 starring Ranveer Singh and upcoming films like Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor and the pan-India film RRR. SS Rajamouli's RRR was expected to revive the theatres. The film which is scheduled to release on January 7 stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn.

South Korean actors Lee Je Hoon and Goo Kyo Hwan have been confirmed to star together in the upcoming film Escape.The two actors will be acting together for the first time after Lee Je Hoon previously expressed his desire to work with Goo Kyo Hwan.
Escape tells the story of the other side of the barbed-wire fence at the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and depicts the fierce escape and pursuit of North Korean soldier Gyu Nam, who dreams of living a life with a future, and security team officer Hyun Sang, who must stop him.
Unlike previous films depicting the conflict between South Korea and North Korea, Escape will focus on North Korea’s side of the DMZ and their military units as well as the complicated emotions existing between an escapee and pursuer. The director will also capture the action and escape process in a suspenseful manner.
Lee Je Hoon will play North Korean soldier Im Gyu Nam who dreams of living a new life in South Korea rather than in the North, where his future is already decided. Having starred in various projects of different genres and time periods, Lee Je Hoon raises anticipation for his next transformation into a soldier who puts his life on the line in order to escape and find his dreams.
Goo Kyo Hwan will play North Korea’s security officer Ri Hyun Sang of the intelligence agency, who chases after ImGyu Nam in order to prevent his escape. Viewers are looking forward to seeing the chemistry between Lee Je Hoon and Goo Kyo Hwan as they transform respectively into ImGyu Nam, who is chasing his dreams, and Ri Hyun Sang, who is trying to preserve reality.
The film is helmed by Lee Jong Pil of Samjin Company English Class and The Sound of a Flower and will be produced by The LAMP Ltd., which previously worked on Taxi Driver, Mal. Mo. E – The Secret Mission, and Samjin Company English Class.
On the work front, Lee Je Hoon was last seen in action-thriller drama Taxi Driver released earlier this year. Goo Kyo Hwan, on the other hand, last featured in drama D.P. co-starring Jung Hae In.
Escape will begin filming in the first half of 2022 after finalizing the main cast.

I did get a lot of insight by speaking to both of them and other doctors. During that phase, I would get into a conversation with whichever doctor I met which could help me with my character. Apart from that, Human is such a layered and complex story, it immediately pulled me towards it. Also the fact that Shefali Shah would be a part of the same show with me, really excited me. She is someone I really look up to and I have truly enjoyed her work as an actor and I was thrilled to share screen space with her. The show also has other wonderful actors and I also met a psychologist to discuss some aspects of my character. I basically got into the mindsets and world of the doctors, speaking to various people and understanding various aspects of how they function in the workspace and outside of it. South Korean female group TWICE will hold two concerts at Tokyo Dome on April 2022. As a part of its ongoing world tour, the performance at the Dome will take place on April 23 and April 24, the group's management agency said on Monday.
This will become the group's first performances in Japan since 2019, when it performed in seven big cities in the country as part of a world tour, according to JYP Entertainment.
The new world tour titled "III" began with two concerts in Seoul, on Saturday and Sunday, which were the first in-person concerts by the group in 22 months.
After Seoul, the tour will continue in Los Angeles on Feb. 16, in Oakland on Feb. 18, Dallas on Feb. 22, Atlanta on Feb. 24 and New York on Feb. 26.
According to Yonhap tabloid, with tickets for the US concerts all sold out, the nine-piece group plans to announce additional stops for the tour, the agency said.
TWICE embarked on the tour with a two-day concert in Seoul on December 25–26 at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
This concert tour is the first in-person concert in 1 year and 10 months since the last 'TWICE WORLD TOUR 2019 'TWICELIGHTS'. In August 2020, the online performance 'Beyond LIVE - TWICE: World in A Day' was held to meet fans all over the world at the same time.

Everybody who knows Subhash Ghai even remotely knows that he is the great thespian Dilip Kumar’s most ardent fan. Ghai had the singular honour of directing the mighty actor in three of his later blockbusters Vidhaata, Saudagar and Karma.
They remained close until the Thespian’s death earlier this year and Ghai continues to be close to Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu. One now hears of Ghai’s lofty plans to direct a bio-pic on Dilip Kumar. Though it is all very hush-hush at the moment sources say Ghai has his heart set on this project.
“He feels there is a very inspiring story to tell on how a fruit seller’s son became India’s most revered actor. Subhash Ghai wants Amitabh Bachchan to play Dilip Kumar,” the source informs.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has had a busy week, having returned to work last Wednesday after a three-month hiatus following his son Aryan Khan's arrest in the drugs-on-cruise case.
Now, that the actor has returned to his rightful place, he is balancing the shoot of Pathan with his appearance in Tiger 3. Khan reportedly took a day off from the two films yesterday to shoot a commercial for a premium company with ad man-director R Balki.
According to a report in a daily, the production team of the commercial reached Mehboob Studios in Bandra on Monday for the work. The shoot lasted for over ten hours. Days before the shoot, the entire crew was tested ror Covid-19 as a protocol. With the cases increasing, Shah Rukh Khan is also keeping himself and his team in check with tests being done three times a week.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan will today return to the sets of Tiger 3 to shoot with Salman Khan.

The first set of performers for the 36th Golden Disc Awards have been announced. On December 28, the Golden Disc Awards announced that BTS, aespa, ENHYPEN, THE BOYZ, Brave Girls, Lee Mujin, Lim Young Woong, and Jeon Somi as a part of the lineup for the event.
Although BTS is currently on their extended period of rest following their BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA concert in the United States and can’t attend the event, they’ll be revealing exclusive footage from their Los Angeles concert for the first time on TV.
Besides being nominated for Rookie Artist of the Year, South Korean female group aespa is also currently nominated for a Bonsang (Main Award) in both Digital Song and Album divisions.
ENHYPEN, who won the rookie award last year, is nominated for a Bonsang in the Album division for DIMENSION: DILEMMA, which is the group’s first million-seller album.
THE BOYZ is also a nominee in the Album division with THRILL-ING. After the massive success of Rollin'and Chi Mat Ba Ram, Brave Girls will be making their first attendance at the Golden Disc Awards.
Lee Mujin will also be joining the lineup for the first time after his song ‘Traffic Light’ received much love on music charts.
Furthermore, Lim Young Woong is preparing another new special stage following his performance last year, and Jeon Somi will also be performing at the ceremony. Her single ‘Dumb Dumb’ is nominated for a Bonsang in the Digital Song division.
The 36th Golden Disc Awards will be held on January 8 at 3 p.m. KST. Lee SeungGi, Lee Da Hee, and Sung Si Kyung have been confirmed to host the show.

American rapper-record producer Kanye West has purchased a California-based home right across the street from his estranged wife Kim Kardashian West, in hopes of staying close to his family.
According to People tabloid, the 44-year-old rapper purchased the home for a whopping $4.5 million, putting down more than $400,000 for the house that initially was listed for $4,079,000. Built in 1955, a "teardown," the deal was made solely to be in close proximity to Kardashian West, 41, and their children.
The reports stated that the house will be family-friendly as he wants to be able to have the kids over as much as possible. Living only in Malibu was making visits trickier for Kanye.
The rapper and the SKIMS founder share daughter North, 8, son Saint, 6, daughter Chicago, 3½, and son Psalm, 2½. Kardashian West filed for divorce from West in February after nearly seven years of marriage. The duo began dating in 2012 and got married in 2014.
Kanye West has been vocal about wanting a second chance with Kardashian West, who has been linked to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson since they were photographed holding hands at Knott's Scary Farm in Buena Park, California in October.
Earlier this month while performing at the Free Larry Hoover concert in Los Angeles, Kanye West dedicated his song Runaway to Kardashian West. After singing the lyrics, "I need you to run right back to me, baby," he added, "more specifically, Kimberly."
He gave a similar speech at the Los Angeles Mission's Annual Thanksgiving event in November, saying, "When God brings Kimye together, there's going to be millions of families that are going to be influenced to see that they can overcome the work of the separation" and adding that, while he planned to move to be closer to his kids, he ultimately "needs to be back home."

Shahid Kapoor has been impressing audiences since 2003 but that big blockbuster eluded him for a long time. He finally got a well-deserved super successful film in 2019 thanks to Kabir Singh. The romance drama was loved by audiences of all ages and ended up collecting a humongous Rs. 278.24 crore at the box office. As a result, the expectations are huge from his next film, Jersey.
The film is all set to release this Friday, that is, December 31 and its censor process was completed just yesterday, that is, on December 27. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The film has been passed with a clean U/A certificate. In other words, the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) has not asked for a single cut in the film. The film has minimal violence and intimacy and it is all within permissible limits. The film is mounted as a family entertainer. As a result, the movie was made keeping that in mind and the CBFC understood that aspect.”
The duration of Jersey stands at nearly 175 minutes, that is, 2 hours and 55 minutes. This makes Jersey the longest film of its lead actor Shahid Kapoor in his 18 ½-year-old career. Interestingly, it is a remake of the 2019 Telugu film of the same name and the Nani starrer’s run time was 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Off late, all films of Shahid Kapoor have been lengthy. While Rangoon (2017) was 2 hours and 47 minutes long, Padmaavat (2018) and Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018)’s run time was around 2 hours and 43 minutes each. As for Kabir Singh, its length was 2 hours and 54 minutes.
A trade expert said, “It doesn’t matter as some of the best films of India and across the world have been lengthy. The recently released Pushpa is 2 hours and 59 minutes long and is being loved by one and all. It’ll be a challenge, however, for the multiplexes to accommodate the shows of Jersey along with that of ’83, Pushpa and Spider-Man: No Way Home. All the four films have a run time of 2 hours and 25 minutes plus.”
Besides Shahid Kapoor, Jersey also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur. Just like the original, the remake is also directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri.

India's first superstar Rajesh Khanna's biopic is in the works. Starring in movies like Anand, Aradhana, Kati Patang, Amar Prem, and Khamoshi among several films, the term superstar was coined for the actor as he stormed through massive stardom. Now, actor-producer Nikhil Dwivedi is set to produce the biopic as he has got the rights to turn Gautam Chintamani’s book, "Dark Star: The Loneliness of Being Rajesh Khanna" into a film. While Gautam will work on the adaptation, it seems like Farah Khan is in talks to direct the project.
It’s only apt that on the eve of Rajesh Khanna’s 79th Birth Anniversary (29th December) a movie on India’s most iconic star, for whom the term ‘Superstar’ was originally coined, is announced. Yes, finally someone is making a biopic on Hindi cinema’s ‘phenomenon’ who delivered 17 mammoth blockbusters in succession and generated mass hysteria, especially among women.
The kind of mass adulation Rajesh Khanna evoked was evident from the fantail he received by the truckloads, something which had not been seen before nor has been seen ever since. Such was the craze about him that female fans wrote letters in blood to him, married his photographs and went into mourning when he tied the knot with Dimple Kapadia (in March 1973).
The enigmatic actor, who made his debut with Aakhri Khat (1966), under the aegis of Chetan Anand, had a never-seen-before meteoric rise, and alas, a fall that was just as speedy. And of course, not to forget, his recovery was equally dramatic too.
Born Jatin Khanna, and affectionately called Kaka by his industry friends, was quite a complex personality, and unfortunately, misunderstood by many. This and many other facets of the actor showcased in Gautam Chintamani’s book will be brought to screen in the Nikhil Dwivedi-produced biopic, which will also be a tribute to India’s original superstar.
While ace director Farah Khan is said to direct the film, which she will script along with Gautam Chintamani, what everyone is waiting with bated breath to know is who will play the Phenomenon of Hindi Cinema. Of course, it’s not going to be a cakewalk for any actor to step into the big shoes of India's one and only superstar, but one can be sure that if the actor signs up for the part and plays it perfectly, he’s sure to win all the Best Actor awards of the season.
Nikhil Dwivedi says, “Yes, I’ve acquired the rights to Gautam Chintamani’s book, "Dark Star", and I’m in talks with Farah Khan to make the film. That’s all I can say for now. As and when any major development happens, I’ll be happy to share because I’m really very excited about bringing Rajesh Khanna’s story to the big screen.”
Commenting about it Farah Khan says, "Yes I have read Gautam's book and it's very fascinating. It's definitely an exciting story. We are in a conversation over this but I cannot comment more".

The under-performance at the box office of the Kabir Khan directorial 83 has shocked the film industry, none more so than the producers, which include Deepika Padukone, of this lavish project. The costly film now stands to lose a major amount that runs into crores.
A source close to the producers told this writer that the blame game will start soon. “The film looks and feels like a documentary on the 1983 World Cup. Some from the production team had pointed this out while the film was being made. What was the need to shoot at the pricey Lords stadium in London when there are so many similarly vast cricket stadiums right here in India? But the naysayers were shut down by those from the film unit who were fully confident of getting the audience into theatres.”
Apparently a large chunk of Ranveer’s fee is pending. And he may be compelled to write it off to counter at least some of the losses.
For Kabir Khan the failure of 83 is a double setback after the poor response to his last directorial Tubelight. That too was a very costly film.

Jean-Marc Vallée, director of films including Dallas Buyers Club and TV projects such as Big Little Lies, has died at age of 58, outside Quebec City. The cause of death was not immediately known.
According to Variety, his producing partner, Nathan Ross, said in a statement, “Jean-Marc stood for creativity, authenticity and trying things differently. He was a true artist and a generous, loving guy. Everyone who worked with him couldn’t help but see the talent and vision he possessed. He was a friend, creative partner and an older brother to me. The maestro will sorely be missed but it comforts knowing his beautiful style and impactful work he shared with the world will live on.”
Born in Montreal, he studied film at the Université du Québec. After making music videos and short films, he made his first feature Black List. After making 2005’s acclaimed Quebec film C.R.A.Z.Y., partially based on his own life, he directed The Young Victoria, which garnered three Academy Award nominations.
Jean-Marc Vallée earned an Oscar nomination for Best Editing for 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club, which won Oscars for Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey. The film was based on the true story of Ron Woodroof, an AIDS patient who smuggled pharmaceutical drugs into Texas and distributed them to fellow AIDS patients through the Dallas Buyers Club.
The next year, he directed Wild, starring Reese Witherspoon and based on the bestselling memoir about a former heroin addict who hikes the Pacific Crest Trail to help find herself. He continued to work with Witherspoon on the HBO series Big Little Lies, for which he won the Emmy for directing for limited series, movie or special. Adapted from the bestselling Liane Moriarty, the limited series also starred Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley, and drew acclaim for its lushly photographed look at the lives of wealthy coastal families who must confront a sudden death in their midst.His next HBO project was another suspenseful HBO mini-series based on a popular book, Sharp Little Objects.
For the upcoming projects, Jean-Marc Vallée was set to direct another series for HBO, Gorilla and the Bird, based on a memoir by Zack McDermott about a public defender who suffers a sudden psychotic break.
He is survived by two children and three siblings.

Filmmaker Sajid Samji of the writer-director duo Sajid-Farhad has announced his first solo directorial. Titled Hari UP, the film is presented by TIPS Industries, Bay Films, and Prernaa V Arora. Shivin Narang will be the lead actor in the film.
Presenter Kumar Taurani ji says, "TIPS is contributing one of the best music for Hari UP the film has an important social message, the music of the film is a different attempt from us to surprise the audience with something very special, we have already worked with Sajid in the past and its a great experience collaborating with Prernaa."
Prernaa V Arora says, "How my film Toilet Ek Prem Katha brought a contribution to the society this film is also based on the teachings of our Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi ji and is an attempt to bring a change in the society, the message this time is 'HridayPariwartan'. I have always been attached to films with a social message and social cause that’s been my forte one of the greatest films like Rustom, Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Padman and now presenting this film in collaboration with TIPS Industries is an attempt on a subject that will touch everyone’s heart. The film introduces two protagonists who are going to be a surprise package. The father and antagonist characters will be played by profound actors from the industry. The leading actor is Shivin and there is a surprise and twist to the story.

The agencies of BTS’ Jungkook and South Korean actress Lee Yoo Bi have denied reports that say that the two are in a relationship. The rumours began to take over the internet in the past few days and the agencies were quick to put a halt to the speculations.
According to Korean tabloid Soompi, Lee Yoo Bi’s agency Y-Bloom Entertainment commented, “That’s a groundless [rumor]. Lee Yoo Bi and Jungkook’s dating news make no sense. They’ve never met, and they don’t know each other. Among the BTS members, Lee Yoo Bi knew Suga, but that was a long time ago. We don’t even know if they’re in touch right now.”
On the same day, Jungkook’s label BigHit Music stated that it is not true that Jungkook is dating Lee Yoo Bi. The agency is taking regular legal action against malicious posts and false information related to BTS.
Recently, one YouTuber, who posts content about K-pop stars, uploaded a video that claimed the two stars were dating. According to the video, Lee Yoo Bi is a fan of Jungkook, and she engaged in “lovestagram” by posting purple hearts on her Instagram account.
Also, it was pointed out that Jungkook’s older brother and Lee Yoo Bi’s younger sister are following each other on social media. In addition, the YouTuber shared that the two stars wore matching clothes and bracelets and that Jungkook fits Lee Yoo Bi’s description of her ideal type, which is a “manly man with pretty eyes.”
On the work front, Yoo Bi was last seen as Ruby in Kim Go Eun and Ahn Bo Hyun starrer drama Yumi’s Cells. Meanwhile, BTS’ ‘Butter’ earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards which will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on January 31, 2022.
