Ajay Devgn and Raveena Tandon, who have been a part of films like Gair and Dilwale, are all set for the debut of their nephew and daughter respectively. Ajay’s nephew Aaman Devgan and Raveena’s daughter Rasha Thadani are all set to enter the film industry together. Their debut venture will be directed by Abhishek aka Gattu Kapoor, and it will be produced by his wife Pragya Kapoor as well as Ronnie Screwvala. While details of the untitled film are currently under wraps, we hear that the makers have already locked the release date.

It is being said that this fresh pair will be making their big screen debut on February 9, 2024, during the Valentine’s week. However, the makers as well as the debutants are maintaining silence on the film. It is also being said that Ajay Devgn will be doing a special role in the film, details of which are yet to be revealed. Besides them, the film is also expected to mark the debut of popular television actor Mohit Malik, who is expected to be seen in a pivotal role.

Readers would recall that we had reported about the two youngsters coming together in a report in January. A source close to the industry had opened up about Abhishek Kapoor providing a launching pad for Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgan, recalling how the filmmaker has given a platform to debut to several other stars in the past. " Over the last 15 years, Abhishek Kapoor's contribution to Indian cinema is commendable. He has identified and launched Sushant Singh Rajput, Farhan Akhtar, Rajkummar Rao, Sara Ali Khan & many others in the most phenomenal manner. His presentation of the characters in each of those films will stay with us forever. Those roles have done wonders for these actors," the source added.

While not much has been revealed about the film, it is said that the film will have a romantic angle to it. We are sure that it would be interesting to see Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani spread love during the upcoming Valentine’s week!

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has issued a statement clarifying that the trailer of the film 72 Hoorain has not been denied certification. The statement comes after co-producer Ashoke Pandit alleged that the censor board had refused to certify the trailer of the movie, which is scheduled for release on July 7.

As per a report by PTI, the CBFC said that the makers of the film had applied for certification of the trailer on June 19, and it was examined in accordance with the guidelines issued under Section 5B(2) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952. The board said that after reviewing the trailer, they had requested certain modifications from the applicant, which were communicated through a show-cause notice issued on June 27.

The CBFC said that the matter is currently pending the applicant's response and compliance with the modifications suggested. Therefore, they emphasized that any misleading reports should not be entertained or circulated while the matter is still under due process.

The CBFC also said that the film 72 Hoorain had already been granted an "A" certificate in October 2019. For the unversed, while expressing his disappointment, Ashoke, in a video message, had criticised the CBFC for hindering their creative independence and freedom of expression. He highlighted the irony of the film receiving accolades such as a National Award and recognition at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), while the trailer was denied certification. 

The film, which is directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, features Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir in the lead roles. It delves into the consequences of violent extremism and garnered critical acclaim, earning Chauhan the National Film Award for Best Direction in 2021.

Producer Ekta Kapoor created a revolution in the television industry in the year 2000. She slowly and steadily also carved a space for herself in the world of movies. With the advent of digital, she established her own OTT platform and thus made giant strides. And now, she’s all set to enter new waters.

Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Ekta Kapoor has come on board for the Telugu-Tamil film, Vrushabha. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “This would be Ekta’s first Pan India film. She is meeting the film’s leading actor, Megastar Mohanlal, today at Yash Raj Films (YRF) Studios, Mumbai where she would sign the papers and then become one of the producers of this highly-awaited film.”

Vrushabha is expected to be mounted on a grand scale and rumoured to be a Rs. 200 crores project. Apart from Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, Vrushabha is produced by AVS Studios and Connect Media.

The announcement of Vrushabha was done last year in August. The multilingual drama will be directed by Nanda Kishore and will hit theaters in 2024. It is will release in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi.

The source further said, “Ekta Kapoor’s presence will give the film a much-needed push in the Hindi speaking markets. She will be to Vrushabha what Karan Johar was to Baahubali. Needless to say, Ekta is kicked about coming on board for Vrushabha. The team of Vrushabha are also glad to welcome her in the team.”

On the work front, Ekta Kapoor just had a release, Badtameez Dil, on Amazon Mini TV. Her daily soap, Barsaatein, will be out on July 10. This year, she’ll have two major film releases – Ayushmann Khurrana-Ananya Panday-starrer Dream Girl 2 and The Crew, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kriti Sanon. Mohanlal, meanwhile, has several forthcoming releases besides Vrushabha like Drishyam 3, Jailer with Rajinikanth, etc.

Sharing the Chandramukhi 2 poster, Kangana confirmed that Chandramukhi is coming back this Ganesh Chaturthi. “This September she is coming back … Are you ready,” she wrote in the caption. 

While this scares many to their bits, fans are also very excited for this spooky horror to return. Chandramukhi 2 directed by P. Vasu stars Raghava Lawrence, Vadivelu, and others. Produced by Lyca Productions and Subaskaran the film will release in September in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Speaking of the project, after wrapping-up the film, Ranaut had said, “As I am about to complete my role in Chandramukhi today, I find it very difficult to say bye to many wonderful people that I met, such a lovely crew I had, I didn't have any pictures with Raghava Lawrence sir because we are always in film costumes so this morning before the shoot started I requested for one,” in a post. 

Besides Chandramukhi 2, as mentioned above, Ranaut also has Emergency in the pipeline, which is scheduled to release in November this year.

Taking the famous Indo-Pakistan love story of Tara Singh and Sakeena, Gadar 2 is all set to release in the next two months. While the makers decided to unveil a teaser on the 22nd anniversary of the film earlier this month, they have also decided to give glimpses of the popular songs from the film, that are recreated. After unveiling the song ‘Udja Kaale Kaawa’ picturized on Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the next song that will be launched is the popular folk number ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke’. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, filmmaker Anil Sharma confirmed about recreating the folk number.

Reacting to rumours about ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke’ being recreated for Gadar 2, Anil Sharma told Bollywood Hungama, “Aksar folk song liye jaate hain filmon mein, lekin yeh pehla gaana hai jispe folk song bane hain. Aaj sab jagah Rajasthan mein yeh gaana bajaya jaata hai. (Often we see how folk songs are recreated for films but in this case, a film song is being used as a folk song in many parts of the country. In Rajasthan, you can hear the song in every nook and corner). It’s a big achievement of Uttam Singh and Anand Bakshi.”

“In fact, Mithoon, who has recreated another version for the upcoming film, the sounds and music used in it is quite modern and young. Unke saath jab hum Tara, Sakeena, aur iss gaane ko dekhte hai toh aisa ek feel aata hai ki hum yaadon ki jhoole mein jhool rahe hai, anand hi hilorein le rahein hain. (When you will see the song along with the chemistry of Tara and Sakeena, you are sure to become nostalgic and walk down the memory lane),” added Sharma.

Furthermore, he concluded by expressing his gratitude towards the audiences for showering love on Gadar and the songs of the film. He asserted, “Yeh gaana mera nahi hai, yeh public ka gaana hai, aur public isse enjoy kar rahi hai (This is not my song. This is public’s song and they are only enjoying it).”

Gadar 2 will once again feature Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol along with Utkarsh Sharma (who also played their son two decades ago) as Jeete. The film is expected to be set in the 70s India, twenty years after Tara Singh and Sakeena reunited in the 2001 film.

Actress Rukhsar Rehman and director-producer Faruk Kabir's marriage has hit rock bottom, and the couple is heading for divorce. The two have been married for 13 years. Yes! You read it right. If a report by Hindustan Times is something to go by, then the couple has decided to part ways. 

As per a report by the portal, a source informed, “The two have been dealing with a lot of problems for the past few months and could not resolve the differences amicably despite several discussions. Hence, they have now involved families and are heading for divorce. Their family members are well aware of their decision. In fact, they have officially met to discuss the same.”

Speaking of the reason, the source added, “It’s unknown and there are several speculations around it including infidelity, but it won’t be right to comment on it because nothing is clarified yet.” However, it is worth mentioning here that neither Rehman nor Kabir has confirmed or denied the news, as of now. 

The report concluded with the source saying, “Her daughter is busy with her own career and hence she also wants to focus on hers. She has been keeping a low profile for the last few years but is a very strong woman always trying to grow.”

Rehman was previously married to Asad Ahmed and has a daughter, Aisha Ahmed, who is also an actress. Their marriage ended in divorce. Speaking of the professional front, Rehman was last seen in The Night Manager.

Despite taking a record-breaking opening with Rs 140 crores worldwide, Om Raut’s Adipurush has been constantly in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Recently, the Allahabad High Court was hearing the PIL filed by Kuldeep Tiwari and Naveen Dhawan seeking a ban on the movie. The court continued slamming the makers of Prabhas-Kriti Sanon starrer and reprimanded them saying they portrayed the characters of Ramayana like Lord Ram and others in a ‘very shameful manner’. 

One of the judges said, according to LiveLaw, “If we will shut our mouths today then you know what will happen? These incidents are increasing day by day. I saw a movie wherein Lord Shankar was shown running with his Trishul in a very funny manner. Now, these things will be showcased?…The filmmakers earn money as films do business.”

The bench further added, “Suppose if you make even a short documentary on the Quran, depicting wrong things, then you will see what will happen…However, I may once again clarify that it is not about any one religion. It is by chance that this issue is concerned with Ramayana, otherwise, the Court belongs to all religions.”

While questioning the psyche of the makers, the bench asserted, “You should not touch the Quran, Bible and other sacred texts. We may make it clear that it is not about any one religion. But you should not depict any religion in a bad light. The court has no religion of its own. Our only concern is that the law and order situation should be maintained.”

The court also directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to submit their personal affidavits, adding that “certifying this movie was a blunder and that it has hurt the sentiments of the people.” Meanwhile, the Adipurush makers have been tight-lipped on the matter, so far.

In the rarest of the rare case, the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, which left the nation in shock, turned into a massive campaign with fans pressurizing the government to carry out an investigation. Although it was ruled as suicide and a case of overdose, fans continued to insist foul play, which resulted in the intervention of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis who is now working with the CBI in relation to the case.

In fact, recently Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis gave fans a major update about the case. He revealed that two people approached him and his team regarding evidence in the Sushant Singh Rajput case and that the same is currently being investigated. In an interview with Republic, he said, “At first, the information available was based on hearsay. However, some individuals asserted that they possessed substantial evidence regarding the case. In response, we reached out to them and requested that they submit the evidence to the police.”

He further refrained from making any more revelations adding, “Currently, we are in the process of examining the credibility of the presented evidence. The investigation is still in progress, and it would be premature for me to provide any comments on the eventual outcome of the case at this stage.”

Sushant Singh Rajput started his career as a television actor and went on to gain immense fame for his role as Manav Deshmukh in the show Pavitra Rishta which featured him alongside his then girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. The actor got his Bollywood break with Kai Po Che! (2013) and went on to do films like Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath, among others. The actor was found dead at his Mumbai apartment in June 2020 and an investigation was launched over his sudden demise. His then girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was initially considered to be a prime suspect but was later cleared of all charges.

Days later, we were again the first to inform that the film will see a direct-to-digital premiere on Amazon Prime on July 21. And now, we have got some more exclusive scoop on the reason why Bawaal is taking a direct-to-digital premiere.

According to our trade sources, Sajid Nadiadwala has received a very good deal from Amazon Prime Video for the direct-to-digital premiere of the film. "In times when the OTT market is crashing, Sajid Nadiadwala got a deal of Rs. 110 crores from Amazon Prime Video. As known by everyone, Bawaal is not your run-of-the-mill commercial film, and the offer from Amazon gave Sajid and his team the security of assured returns. Varun and Janhvi also agreed to this decision as the film does not have those commercial trappings," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

According to insiders, Sajid, Varun, and Nitesh believe in the power of Bawaal and will take the film globally in the digital world. In fact, the world premiere of the film will take place in Paris, and the film will premiere in 200 countries. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Bawaal is the third collaboration of Varun Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala after Judwaa 2 and Kalank.

The film will release on July 21 on Amazon Prime Video.

He highlighted the irony of the film receiving accolades such as a National Award and recognition at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), while the trailer was denied certification. Pandit raised concerns about the inconsistency in the board's decision-making process.

Earlier this month, the film attracted controversy due to its misleading claims in the teaser released on June 6. Additionally, 72 Hoorain faced backlash from religious and political leaders in Kashmir, who objected to its alleged negative portrayal of Muslims, stating that it hurt the sentiments of the community.

The film, produced by Saarthie Entertainment and Aliens Pictures, explores sensitive themes and aims to initiate a dialogue on violent extremism. However, its depiction has evidently raised concerns among certain sections of society.

Zorawar Ahluwalia decided to put an end to it and took to his Instagram story to request people to stop trolling Kusha Kapila, as he said, “We realise we live public lives, but we still hold certain things sacred. Our marriage and respect for each other being one of them. Divorce much like our mariage was a decision we both made together, after much deliberation and thought. It was a tough and painful decision but one we took collectively, for the sake of both of our well-being. What has transpired over the last 24 hours, with Kusha being subject to vile attacks online makes me sad and disappointed. To attack Kusha's character and paint her as some villain is shameful.” He concluded by adding, “Let's all please do better”.

Readers would recall that Kusha Kapila tied the knot with Zorawar Ahluwalia in 2017 after a few years of courtship and Zorawar too has been a part of several of her video content on social media. While the news of their separation definitely has upset many fans who loved to see the couple together on social media, some took the issue to another level by digging an old video of Kusha talking about infidelity. Many fans even went on to accuse her of betraying Zorawar while being married to him after the video went viral on social media.

The digital invasion is here to stay. And A-lister stars are feeling the brunt of it. Just the other day, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor were shocked to know that their collaborative labour of love Bawaal had been sold off to Prime Video.

Bawaal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is an impressively costly films (estimated budget Rs. 275 crores) shot across several continents. It is a made-for-cinema experience starring two seemingly saleable stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor and its digitalized release didn’t go down well with the film’s actors.

Someone very close to one of the leads in Bawaal said, “We were shocked to know Bawaal is going straight to OTT. The film is designed for the large screen. But there is nothing anyone can do.”

This was the second time Varun Dhawan’s film was pushed to the digital domain against his wishes. The first time it was his father David Dhawan’s Coolie No.1 at the crest of the COVID-19 crisis.

Now, it is Sonam Kapoor who finds her labour of love being deprived of a big-screen release.

Sonam, who was last seen in The Zoya Factor, takes centre stage in Blind. She stars as a blind girl in the Hindi remake of the 2011 Korean film Blind, which will stream on Jio Cinema from July 7.

The announcement came as shocker to Sonam. Apparently she was not informed of the change of plans. However, as in the case of Bawaal, the producers of Blind had no choice as the theatre negotiations were not getting anywhere.

This is sad as Blind is Sonam’s only truly memorable performance since Neerja. The entire plot, about an ex-cop who goes blind in an accident that happens while she hunts down a criminal and how she chases him down in spite her physical disability, centres around Sonam’s character. Sonam, who has never done an action film before, kicks some serious butt in this Korean remake. A pity that her efforts would not be seen on the big screen.

A day ago, it was reported that father-daughter duo Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan will be starring in a movie together which will be produced by Red Chillies Entertainment in collaboration with Pathaan director Siddharth Anand’s Marflix Pictures. Even before her debut with The Archies, Suhana has signed her next film and will co-star alongside her superstar father. However, it is being reported that Khan's screentime will be similar to that of Dear Zindagi. Now, the makers have roped in Sujoy Ghosh to helm the movie.

Interestingly, Ghosh directed Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Badla which was produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s production house. As per a report in Pinkvilla, a source revealed, “Shah Rukh Khan and Sujoy Ghosh have worked together in the capacity of producer and director in Badlaa starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. The duo will now be reuniting in multiple capacities for this yet film. It’s an action thriller, and other details have been kept under wraps for now. Even Sujoy is excited to explore a new genre as a director.”

This will mark the second collaboration between SRK and Siddharth Anand. The source added, “Siddharth Anand is known for action films and SRK is collaborating with the filmmaker to collaborate on creating big action blocks for the film. The idea is to come up with an uncompromised cinematic experience with the best resources.”

Meanwhile, Suhana Khan will debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies on Netflix. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for two releases this year – Jawan and Dunki.

On the work front, Sujoy Ghosh is one of the directors of Lust Stories 2 on Netflix. He is also directing Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat in “The Devotion Of Suspect X” adaptation. Veteran actor and filmmaker Amol Palekar, on Monday, June 26, reacted sharply to the tax exemption given by several states to films like The Kashmir Files (2022) and The Kerala Story (2023). He also dubbed these films as ‘propaganda movies’.

Amol Palekar made these comments in Kolhapur, Maharashtra at the Samajik Salokha Parishad which was organized to celebrate the birth anniversary of the reputed king and social reformer, Shahu Maharaj. He remarked that earlier, goons used to harass the aam junta but now the government and politics support masked mobs. He also said that the minorities have been terrorized in the last few decades.

The Member of Parliament has been accused of sexual harassment by several wrestlers. Amol also said that Shahu Maharaj punished those who committed crimes against women and that he was against orthodox ideology.

Amol Palekar has gotten into controversies earlier for speaking his mind. In February 2019, he raised questions over the alleged cancellation of retrospectives of two senior artists at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Mumbai. It led to a lot of brouhaha. A month before, he observed that politicians and leaders don’t face censorship when giving speeches but when he tries to show the same in films, those scenes face resistance. In April 2017, he once again questioned censor policies and approached the Supreme Court to seek a revamp of the Cinematograph Act.

On the work front, Amol Palekar was recently seen back-to-back web projects. While he played the role of Shahid Kapoor’s grandfather in Raj-DK’s web series Farzi, he essayed Sharmila Tagore’s brother-in-law in Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Gulmohar.

According to reports from the Press Trust of India (PTI), Patel was on his way to film a comedy video in Raipur when the incident occurred.

The mishap took place around 3:30 pm, as Patel was riding as a pillion passenger. Following the conclusion of a video shoot in Nava Raipur, he was en route back when the collision with a truck transpired. The accident resulted in severe injuries to his head and other parts of his body, ultimately leading to his untimely demise.

Patel held an impressive following on YouTube, with over 4 lakh subscribers, who admired his witty style and comedic videos. The news of his passing has reverberated across social media platforms, as devastated fans expressed their condolences and shared their grief on Twitter and other online forums.

Even Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took to Twitter to express his sorrow, sharing an old video featuring himself and Patel at the CM's official residence. In the video, the humorous YouTuber jovially remarked about their shared fame in Chhattisgarh, stating, "Only two persons are famous in Chhattisgarh. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has inked a multi-year series partnership with streaming giant Netflix after the release of Scoop, which received much acclaim. This news follows after his web series Scoop released on the platform earlier this month, starring Karishma Tanna, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub and Harman Baweja.

Salman Khan has once again received a death threat. The actor has already filed a complaint with Mumbai Police after receiving a threatening email earlier this year. He has received theatres from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as well. Now, Goldy Brar, who claimed to be allegedly behind the murder of Sidhu Moosewala, has said that he will kill Salman Khan.

In an interview with India Today channel, Goldy Brar said that his gang will “definitely kill" Salman. “We will kill him, we will definitely kill him. Bhai saheb (Lawrence) had stated that he wouldn’t apologise. Baba will show mercy only when he feels merciful,” Brar said, and referenced to Lawrence Bishnoi.

Brar continued, “Like we have said earlier, it’s not just about Salman Khan. We will continue our attempts against all our enemies as long as we’re alive. Salman Khan is our target, there’s no doubt about that. We’ll keep trying, and when we succeed, you’ll know."

Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani seem to be leaving no stone unturned to promote their upcoming romantic drama Satyaprem Ki Katha. While the actors have been travelling across the country and meeting fans as a part of these promotional activities, makers have decided to host a special musical concert for fans and it will be held in Navi Mumbai.

On June 27, in association with Nadiadwala & Grandsons, the makers have organized a musical concert with Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, as well as the singers who have sung for the film, in attendance as a part of the promotional campaign for Satyaprem Ki Katha. We hear that the actors will be performing in a mall wherein fans will get a glimpse of their favourite actors.

Set against the backdrop of Gujarati culture, Satyaprem Ki Katha showcases the growing bond between Katha with her husband Satya after their marriage. The musical album of the film boasts of romantic numbers as well as dance numbers with a tinge of Garba since it is extensively shot in Gujarat.

During the audio launch of the song ‘Sun Sajni’, Kartik had described the massive scale in which songs were shot in this film as he said, “The film would not have reached at this level without Shareen ma'am, Kishor sir (Kishor Arora), Sajid sir (Sajid Nadiadwala) and Warda, who produced the film. Thank you for making every song as big as the other one. Isse zyada massive scale waale songs main imagine nahin kar sakta tha. (I cannot imagine a more massive scale than this one). It is an important film for both me and Kiara and aap logon ne iss film ko sone chandi ke saath bhar diya! (you guys have filled this film with all the possible gold, silver, and gems).”

Talking about Satyaprem Ki Katha, directed by Sameer Vidhwans, the film is slated for release on June 29, 2023.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency has been in the news ever since it was announced. From the political subject of the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi imposing Emergency on its citizens in 1975 to Kangana’s look as the late PM, the film has constantly made heads turn. The cast of Anupam Kher as an activist and Shreyas Talpade as the former Indian PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee also kept the film in the news.

Kangana recently announced the release date of Emergency as November 24. However, another film based on the Emergency is slated to be released almost four months before Kangana’s movie.

Filmmaker Dinesh Jagtap’s Marathi movie Aani Baani (a term used in Maharashtra to describe the Emergency of 1975) was announced today. Along with the film’s first poster, the makers also revealed that the movie is all set to release in theatres on July 28. It has an ensemble cast of Upendra Limaye, Sayaji Shinde, Pravin Tarde, Sanjay Khapre, Veena Jamkar, Usha Naik among others.

Along with the actors, the first poster of Aani Baani has an image of an old radio, which probably is giving news about the Emergency being imposed in the country. Interestingly, the title font has a sketch of a semen, which might indicate the vasectomy drive being carried on by the government during the Emergency.

Kangana’s movie has quite a few real-life characters. But the same isn’t known about Aani Baani as of now.

The Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Avneet Kaur starrer Tiku Weds Sheru was released on Amazon Prime on June 23. Produced by Kangana Ranaut, the film’s trailer was launched at a grand event in Mumbai on June 14. While Nawazuddin, Avneet, Kangana and Aparna Purohit of Amazon Prime Video graced the trailer launch, director Sai Kabir was conspicuous by his absence. It raised eyebrows since even in the past, Kangana has had altercations with her directors like Hansal Mehta (Simran; 2017) and Krish (Manikarnika; 2019). In the case of Krish, he had to even step down and share director credit with Kangana.

However, in the case of Tiku Weds Sheru, Kangana Ranaut hasn’t had a feud with Sai Kabir. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Sai is currently in rehab due to drug and alcohol abuse. He was admitted to a facility in Mumbai just a few days before the trailer launch. He is expected to be out next month. This is the reason why he wasn’t present at the event and also didn’t give any interviews.”

The source further said, “This isn’t the first time Sai has checked into rehab. In the past, he has been in rehab a couple of times. He had also checked into rehab after a case was filed against him for the abetment of suicide of his servant.”

On January 31, 2018, Sai Kabir’s servant Raju fell to his death from the former’s 7th floor apartment in Yari Road, Mumbai. Just a few months before this incident, Sai had stayed in rehab at Masina Hospital. After the demise of his servant, he was once again admitted to the South Mumbai hospital. As soon he was out after a few weeks, he was arrested and charged under Section 306 (Abetment of suicide). He was released in April 2018.

The source added, “The case is going on. Besides, Sai Kabir also faces an accusation of molestation. This case is also subjudice.”

Before Tiku Weds Sheru, Sai Kabir had directed Revolver Rani (2014), starring Kangana Ranaut.

While Aryan Khan prefers to stay behind the camera, daughter of megastar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to make her acting debut. Suhana Khan will be seen as Veronica in the upcoming Zoya Akhtar directorial The Archies. While the film will release on OTT, we hear that the newbie has bagged her second film, a theatrical release with none other than her father and the Pathaan of Bollywoood, Shah Rukh Khan. The untitled venture, reportedly, will be produced under his banner Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Siddharth Anand.

In a report by Pinkvilla, a source has confirmed the details saying, “Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand have worked together in the capacity of actor and director in Pathaan and now the duo is now all set to work in multiple capacities in this yet-untitled film. The yet-untitled film will be a co-production of Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. The pre-production work has already begun, and all the stakeholders are excited to take the film on floors.” These reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan will start work on it by the end of this year after he wraps up work on his film Dunki.

The source continued, “Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are ready to extend their bond further by venturing into a co-production. The yet untitled film is touted to be the first of the many collaborations in the offing for SRK and Siddharth Anand in the capacity of producer.” The report also mentioned that Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan are coming together because of the script’s demand. “It’s a subject that organically calls for this casting and all the details have been kept under wraps for now. Both Shah Rukh and Suhana are excited to collaborate in a professional capacity,” the source added.

Readers would be aware that Shah Rukh Khan is currently gearing up for the release of his first collaboration with South filmmaker Atlee, in Jawan, which also marks the Bollywood debut of Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. He also has Dunki, co-starring Taapsee Pannu in the pipeline for release.

On the other hand, along with Suhana Khan, The Archies also marks the debut of Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson and Shweta Bachchan’s son Agastya Nanda as well as Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. The film is slated for release on Netflix in November 2023.

With the release date of the musical drama nearing, we now hear that the Central Board of Film Certification has passed the film with a UA certificate.

It is being said that Satyaprem Ki Katha received green signal from CBFC on June 13 as a film created for family viewing experience where kids are allowed to watch under parental guidance under UA certification. Furthermore, we hear that the film has the usual duration of 2 hours 26 minutes and 02 seconds, that is, 146.02 minutes to be precise.

Talking about the film, Kartik Aaryan had earlier called the film ‘special’ as he said, “Creative discussions and all take place because the film is extremely precious to us. I think in my entire career I haven’t ever been this involved in a film as much as I have been in Satyaprem Ki Katha because I really believe in the subject and I feel proud to be a part of Satyaprem Ki Katha. I think in my filmography maybe this is one film in which I have felt proud in every frame of the film, which I don’t know why. “

Kiara Advani too had recalled the time when she was approached for the film, “I would like to share this with everyone, Karan (Shrikant Sharma), who wrote this script. I believe this film actually came to me before Covid. I heard this story, and I thought it was so beautiful. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we couldn't proceed with it. Suddenly, after a couple of years, there was an announcement of a film starring Kartik and produced by Sajid (Nadiadwala) sir. At that time, I didn't know that it was the same script that I had read many years ago.”

It was slated to release on October 20. However, to avoid a clash with Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon’s Ganapath, Kangana cancelled the release. The film is now scheduled to release on November 24, 2023.

Tiger Shroff, who completed 9 years last month as an actor, has worked with several reputed actors in his illustrious career. A male co-star with whom he has worked twice is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Both appeared for the first time together in Sabbir Khan’s musical action entertainer, Munna Michael (2017). Later, they were seen in the actioner, Heropanti 2 (2022). Nawazuddin was seen as the antagonist in the Ahmed Khan-directorial. And now, it has come to light that Nawazuddin’s latest release, Tiku Weds Sheru, also has a Tiger Shroff connection.

In a scene in the first half, Sana (Khushi Bharadwaj), Tiku’s (Avneet Kaur) sister and Sheru’s (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), complains to Sheru that he doesn’t bring new clothes for her as he does for Tiku. To which, Sheru asks her who her favourite actor is. Sana mentions Sunny Shroff’s name. Sheru then answers that his designer is a woman named Swati Yogi and that he’ll get Sana’s clothes designed by her. When Sana asks Sheru if he’ll introduce him to Sunny Shroff, Sheru takes a dig at Disha Patani. He replies, “Nahin, nahin. 22nd ke baad. 22nd ke baad woh kaunsi Disha se aayega, woh Patani!”

Interestingly, if one observes closely, one can see that both Khushi Bharadwaj and Nawazuddin Siddiqui mention Tiger Shroff’s name instead of Sunny Shroff. However, it seems that as an afterthought, Tiger was replaced by Sunny. Moreover, the Disha Patani reference makes it clear that the makers were hinting at Tiger Shroff.

Tiku Weds Sheru was released yesterday on Amazon Prime Video, on June 23. It tells the story of Sheru, a junior artist and a pimp, who marries a naïve girl from Bhopal, Tiku. He lies to Tiku that he’s a reputed film financier. Meanwhile, Tiku hides from Sheru that she has married only to be in Mumbai so that she can act in movies and also to be close to her boyfriend, Binni (Rahoul). It is directed by Sai Kabir and produced by Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika Films.

Manoj Bajpayee and Sharmila Tagore starrer Gulmohar is selected to be the opening film for the 20th Indian Film Festival Stuttgart, Germany. Directed by Rahul V. Chittella, the film is a family drama that was released on Disney+ Hotstar earlier this year amidst positive reviews and audience reactions. The film has also been already acclaimed overseas, including the New York Indian Film Festival.

Interestingly, director Rahul V. Chittella had won the German Star of India at the same festival in 2017 for his short film Azaad. Sharing his excitement at the recent development for Gulmohar, he said in a statement, “I’m so excited that Gulmohar has been chosen to open the prestigious Indian Film Festival of Stuttgart, which is in its 20th year of championing soulful stories from our part of the world in Germany! My previous film, Azaad, won the Best Short at the festival in 2017, and it’s lovely to go back to the festival with a film as special as Gulmohar.”

He added, “It is truly heartening to see all the love and appreciation pouring in from all corners of the globe and seeing this special film about family and home resonate so deeply with audiences worldwide. We had exciting screenings in New York last month and will be traveling to Stuttgart and Berlin in July and the rest of the world this year.”

Gulmohar is a Star Studios production in association with Chalkboard Entertainment and Autonomous Works. The film also stars Suraj Sharma, Amol Palekar, Kaveri Seth and Simran, among others.

Kushal Tandon, who is known for shows like Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behena Hai and Beyhadh, is all set to return to television fiction shows with Barsatein. The show will also feature him alongside Shivangi Joshi aka Naira of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame, for the first time. While in the earlier promo we got a glimpse of the chemistry we will get to see between these two characters, recently the channel unveiled the release date of the show as July 10.

Furthermore, it is also being said that Barsatein will be airing on Sony Entertainment Television at 8 pm. Along with the announcement, the makers also unveiled another promo showcasing glimpses of the characters essayed by Shivangi Joshi and Kushal Tandon. Shivangi is expected to play the role of a journalist named Aradhana who works for the arrogant Casanova Reyansh. The latest promo showcases how much Aradhana dislikes Reyansh for his arrogance, flirtatious attitude, and pride.

In an earlier interview with ETimes, Shivangi had opened about her character in the upcoming show saying, "In my new show, I play Aradhna, a journalist. She is optimistic, strong-headed, and determined to achieve her goals in life. She works for Reyaansh (Kushal Tandon's character) and the plot revolves around how girls fall for boys who generally break their hearts. He is not a bad guy but tends to break their hearts. I am quite looking forward to this role. It is very different from the kind of roles I have played in my earlier roles."

Colors’ show Suhaagan revolves around the riveting tale of Bindiya, carrying out all the household chores for her extended family who mistreat her and her sister Payal. The story of the two sisters is taking an exciting leap of ten years, bringing a whirlwind of changes to the characters’ journeys. Following the leap, 23-year-old Bindiya will be essayed by beautiful debutant Garima Kishnani, and 21-year-old Payal will be essayed by the gorgeous actor Anshula Dhawan. The narrative will also introduce a new character Krishna played by Raghav Thakur.

Talking about Krishna, he will be young rich brat, who wants to live his life without responsibilities. Post the leap, Bindiya is working hard as an agriculturalist, while Payal is in her second year at a college in Lucknow. Unlike Bindiya, Payal is embarrassed about her family background, and she is in a secret relationship with Krishna. Their lives get complicated as Bindiya marries Krishna in a turn of events. Shah Rukh Khan will next star in Jawan, helmed by Atlee Kumar. Billed as an action entertainer, the movie arrives in theatres on September 7, 2023. While some glimpses have been leaked on social media, tales of the superstar’s gentleman behavior are taking over the internet. A stuntman Saddam on the sets of Jawan revealed what it was like to work with the actor.

As reported by Indian Express, a video is doing the rounds of social media where Saddam calls Shah Rukh Khan the ‘sweetest banda’. He shared in Hindi, “The heroes I work with are usually rough, who come and say I will do this and that. But he was not like that. He asked me how I am going to do that stunt, and checked on the safety. He was worried that I would get hurt and I briefed him about how it was safe.”

The stuntman said that SRK would initiate conversations to discuss stunts on the Jawan set. He, infact, checked on Saddam after the shot. “Tu thik hai? (Are you okay)” he asked. “Also, if the shot went wrong, he would immediately say it was his fault. I was amazed at what kind of a star he is. SRK is really different from anyone I have worked with,” Saddam added.

For the unversed, a source has earlier informed Bollywood Hungama about his decision to bring the film in September 2023, to get a clear run till the release of Salaar. “Shah Rukh Khan wants to come in a clear window and not be one of the many in the crowd. He is a lion by heart and wants things to be in his focus. He believes September will do justice to the release of Jawan," the source revealed.

A few days ago, it came to light that Manoj Muntashir, the lyrics and screenplay writer of Adipurush, had requested police protection after receiving death threats. Bollywood Hungama has now learned that even director Om Raut has been provided security by the Mumbai Police as well.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Four constables and one armed cop are seen with Om Raut at his office. It is, however, not known if the director requested police protection or whether the police, themselves, provided protection due to the controversy and threats.” It was said that along with Manoj Muntashir, even Om Raut had also received death threats.

Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan and Devdatta G Nage, is based on the epic Ramayana. The period VFX-heavy film has been in the eye of controversy ever since it was released globally on June 16. The film’s dialogues were changed from Sunday after certain viewers raised objections. Effiges of Manoj Muntashir were burned in many parts of the country, as per reports. The protestors also demanded a ban on the film.

Meanwhile, as per a report in Free Press Journal, Dr. Raj Shekhawat, National President of Kshatriya Karni Sena reportedly said at a press conference in Madhya Pradesh, "We will kill the director, haath mein aaya toh koot denge. We are planning to form a team in Mumbai and tell them to get hold of weapons to find him and kill him."

Manoj Muntashir, however, maintained that the intention of the film was not to hurt sentiments. He told ANI, “Our aim was to present the true heroes of Sanatan to our younger generation. There is an objection to 5 dialogues and they will be changed. If people are not liking some parts, then it's our responsibility to fix them.”

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Bawaal will become the first Indian movie to have its premiere at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The movie, a love story by Sajid Nadiadwala’s production banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in collaboration with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari’s Earthsky Pictures, is set for direct-to-digital release on Prime Video.

As per a report in Pinkvilla, a source revealed, “Bawaal will be the first Indian Film to have its premiere at the Eiffel Tower. The premiere will take place at the exquisite Salle Gustave Eiffel, offering a panoramic view of the city of love as the backdrop. Apart from Varun, Janhvi, Sajid, and Nitesh, the premiere will be attended by movie enthusiasts and French delegates, making it one of the biggest premieres for an Indian film.”

“Bawaal has a symbolic reference to Paris. The makers have extensively shot some of the key portions in Paris, and the city acts like a character in this tale. The film is essentially a love story with references to World War 2 and the makers are ready to premiere the film in the city of love,” the source added.

Director Nitesh Tiwari recently said, “Shot across three Indian locations and five European countries, Bawaal has a captivating storyline, dramatic visuals and absolutely amazing chemistry between the lead talent Varun and Janhvi. I believe that the worldwide premiere on Prime Video will help us take Bawaal to audiences in India and across borders. We have worked with immense passion and commitment to bring this film to our audiences and now we can’t wait to hear their reactions.”

The much-awaited teaser of Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 was out earlier this month, and it was enough to increase the excitement of the audience since this is one of the most keenly awaited films of the year. The teaser was also attached the print of the first film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was re-released on June 9.

Although the teaser succeeded in getting a positive response, the fans were surprised not to find a glimpse of Ameesha Patel in it. She reprises her character Sakeena from the first film while Sunny Deol will be back as Tara Singh.

But the fans need not wait longer as they would soon see more than a glimpse of Ameesha Patel as Sakeena in the upcoming teaser of Gadar 2. A source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama exclusively, “The teaser that’s coming out is a beautiful visual finally of the couple. This teaser is expected to come up very soon for which the audiences are waiting for. It will have Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakeena together.”

One of the highlights of Gadar was the song ‘Udja Kale Kawan’. This song will be repeated in Gadar 2. Added the source, “‘Udja Kale Kawan’ is going to be back in Gadar 2. The audience should get geared up for some beautiful visuals of the stunning Sakeena very soon.”

But that’s not all as the source added, “The producers are also planning to release the character posters as well, including of Tara and Sakeena, very soon.”

Also starring Utkarsh Sharma in a pivotal role, Gadar 2 will be released in theatres worldwide on August 11.

Reacting swiftly to a report that the slain crime reporter J Dey’s sister Leena is ailing and is in dire need of financial help, Hansal Mehta, who has directed a thunderously successful web series Scoop on J Dey’s dastardly slaying, has decided to offer any and every kind of help needed to her.

While Hansal does not wish to go on-record on this critical matter, a close friend of the feted filmmaker revealed, “Hansal read the report and immediately galvanized into action. Long before he made the series, he was deeply shocked and moved by Dey’s murder. Now having made the series, he feels closer to Dey’s story than before.”

Hansal will be going all-out to provide assistance to Dey’s sister Leena. But as the source further revealed, “He wouldn’t like to talk about this. To extract publicity out of what is a normal natural act of humanism is sick. That’s how Hansal feels. What happens between Hansal and Dey’s family won’t go into the public domain.”

Scoop, which is streaming on Jio Cinema, is inspired from the arrest and trial of real journalist Jigna Vora for the murder of J Dey. The show, which sees Karishma Tanna essay the central character, is adapted from Jigna Vora’s book ‘Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison’. The show also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Harman Baweja.

On Wednesday morning, Shoaib took to the story section of his Instagram and shared a note. It read, “Alhamdulilla today 21st June 2023 early morning we are blessed with a baby boy. It’s a premature delivery nothing much to worry. Keep us in your prayers.” For the unversed, Dipika was in her third trimester and was due in July.

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that a day before the arrival of their first child, the couple celebrated Shoaib’s 36th birthday. In fact, the latest post on Dipika’s IG handle is a post dedicated to Shoaib along with a heartfelt note.

In the photo, Dipika and Shoaib can be seen striking a romantic pose while holding a cake. Meanwhile, Dipika’s baby bump is also evident in the photo. The shocking news of Aryan Khan being arrested in a drug extortion case had led to a major uproar in the Indian media, followed by a massive backlash. While Aryan Khan received clean chit in the case, in May this year, however, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a FIR against Sameer Wankhede, the officer in charge at Narcotics Control Bureau along with a few officials of the NCB who have been accused of bribery and extortion against Khan family. Latest reports suggest that the CBI will be summoning Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan to record their statements pertaining to the extortion case.

In May this year, the CBI alleged that evidence was found against NCB officials, and has also confirmed about summoning the superstar and his son pertaining to the case saying, “We will soon record the statements of Aryan Khan, who was arrested by NCB, and Shah Rukh Khan, from whom Rs. 25 crore was demanded, by the accused Kiran Gosavi and Sanville D’Souza at the behest of Wankhede. Recording their statements is necessary to get to the bottom of the conspiracy,” one of the officials told Hindustan Times.

For the unversed, the son of one of India’s biggest superstars, Shah Rukh Khan was allegedly arrested for possession of drugs, further kept in custody where he was accused of being a dealer with international connections. While Jr. Khan received bail in the case, followed by a clean chit clearing his name of all charges, the officer in charge Wankhede is now facing allegations of extortion against Khan family as well as bribery charges, leading to an enquiry against him.

As per reports, CBI has also filed an FIR against former superintendent of police of NCB Vishwa Vijay Singh, intelligence officer Ashish Ranjan, and Gosavi and D’Souza in the extortion case. According to these reports, while the CBI has already kick started their investigation against these officers with an enquire report in order, they are currently awaiting the court order to conduct a more extensive and thorough investigation.

Akshay Kumar has briefly commented about his array of failures at the box office in the past year. In 2022, the actor faced a string of flops including Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, and Ram Setu. Even this year’s Selfiee failed to make any waves at the box office. The actor has now admitted that box office numbers do bother him.

In a chat with Financial Express, Akshay was asked about box office numbers and if they bother him, he said, “Of course, they do.” He added, “We are made or we are broken because of the box office numbers. That’s what you call hits and flops. The audiences tell us when we are right and where we are going wrong, and all that is reflected in the box office numbers because if a film does not work, that means people didn’t come to see it, which in turn means that they didn’t connect to it. And it means that’s the time for you to change.”

He added, “I have had many cycles of ups and downs in my life. The one common thing is that when the going’s good there are all praises and when it’s not it’s more criticism than you can imagine. Yes, I am human, and good feels good, and bad feels bad, but I am also proud of the ability I have to move on extremely quickly. What keeps me going is the same will I had on the first day I started work, I love working! And no one can take that away from me! You just have to keep going on, there is no other way. There is a higher power that sees everything and it compounds and gives you back the results of the honest hard work you put in, that’s how I deal with it.”

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will be seen with Parineeti Chopra in The Great Indian Rescue, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. The film will release on October 5. Actress Ameesha Patel recently surrendered at the Ranchi Civil Court in connection to a cheque bounce case. She was granted bail by the senior division judge DN Shukla and was asked to appear before the court again on June 21. The case dates back to 2018 when producer and businessman Ajay Kumar Singh accused her of not returning the money she allegedly took from him to produce a film.

Ameesha has opened up on the case through a statement, which read, “I am inundated with messages from my fans and well-wishers, regarding certain matters at Ranchi. I have since the inception of the case maintained gracefully silent that I choose to continue to keep and respectfully let the law take its due course. It is unfortunate that my silence, dignity and respect for the system has been taken advantage of by Mr. Ajay from Ranchi, who has chosen to spread an environment of bias by creating a public spectacle and to make himself famous at my expense, of what is otherwise due legal process. The complaint made with ulterior motives is wrong and will ultimately be dealt with by the court system.”

She added, “The Hon’ble Supreme Court is seeing through it as it deserves to be and has stayed the proceedings for cheating and breach of trust. I have never made a media spectacle of this fact. It’s below my dignity and class to stoop to such levels. I trust our judiciary to render justice and that would be the correct medium for people to know the facts. To all my fans, well-wishers and supporters, I would like to assure that all is well. Pettiness naturally survives on falsehood and manipulation. Let’s channel our energy and focus on the good and positive things in life rather than some manipulative individual’s thirst for fame fuelled with cheap ulterior motives.”

On the work front, Ameesha Patel will next be seen in Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 alongside Sunny Deol and Utkarsh Sharma. The film, which is the sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001), will release in theatres on August 11.

New research from YouGov commissioned by WhatsApp reveals the power of a private message, as almost three quarters of women across the world (73%) and 68% of women in India say they would open up about their struggles if a friend reached out to them in private.  WhatsApp believes everyone should have a safe space to communicate with their family and friends, and so to encourage women to check in on each other privately, has partnered with actor Anushka Sharma to launch a series of mirrored messages appearing in private spaces - women’s restrooms - in malls across Delhi.

A message will appear on the restroom mirror when triggered by motion, alongside a QR code that offers suggestions for checking in via a private WhatsApp message. Afterwards, the message vanishes without a trace, just like a Disappearing Message on WhatsApp.

Commenting on the launch of the campaign, actor, Anushka Sharma, said, “Women don’t always feel safe to speak up about issues they’re facing, however they tend to open up with a friend who reaches out to them, privately. To coincide with the launch, Mark Zuckerberg has announced a new privacy feature, Silence Unknown Callers, which helps to screen out spam, scams and calls from unknown people for greater control over your calls. We’re also rolling out Privacy Checkup, a step-by-step feature that guides you through the important privacy settings on WhatsApp and helps you choose the right level of protection, all in one place.

Details on the YouGov Research Results from a YouGov survey of  6,000 people across UK, India, Brazil and US. Issues include at least one of the following: mental health, domestic abuse, workplace harassment, harassment at college/university or sexual harassment.

In a formal letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has expressed its demand for a ban on the screening of the movie Adipurush. The AICWA alleges that the film, based on the epic Ramayana, defames the revered figures of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, thus hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and followers of Sanatan Dharma.

The letter states that Adipurush is a "complete disaster" that undermines the faith of devotees in Shri Ram and the Ramayana. The AICWA specifically points out the portrayal of Lord Ram and Ravan as video game characters and criticizes the dialogues that have caused offence among Indians both within the country and abroad.

While the AICWA does not demand any specific action against the actors, including Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, it strongly emphasizes that they should not have been associated with a film that it deems "disgraceful" in the history of Indian cinema.

In light of these concerns, the AICWA calls upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and take necessary measures to prevent the future screening of Adipurush in theaters and on OTT platforms. Additionally, the association urges the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against director Om Raut, writer Manoj Muntasir Shukla, and the film's producers.

According to the AICWA, the sentiments of Hindus have been deeply hurt by the portrayal of Lord Ram and the associated characters. The association asserts the need for immediate action to safeguard the revered image of Bhagwan Shri Ram, Maa Sita, and the devoted Ramsevak Bhagwan Hanuman. Its primary objective is to preserve the sacredness and reverence associated with these divine figures.

The AICWA's letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflects its strong concerns about the alleged defamation and the potential impact on religious sentiments. It remains to be seen how the government will respond to the demands put forth by the association.

Within two days of Bigg Boss OTT Season 2, there has already been enough drama in the house. While contestants Aakanksha Puri and Manisha Rani are vying for Jad Hadid’s attention, Palak Purswani and Avinash Sachdev have come face-to-face after their much talked about public breakup. While lots of drama is left to unfold, Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 has announced its first set of nominations and the names are definitely going to disappoint fans.

Jiya Shankar, who recently made her debut in Marathi cinema, is one of the names in the list of the first list of contestants being nominated. Another is surprisingly, Palak Purswani and Avinash Sachdev. Interestingly, after the fallout, the former couple were expected to create quite a bit of stir in the Bigg Boss house. But now viewers are left wondering if they will get to witness the same. Another name is that of Bebika Dhurve. Interestingly, this Bhagyalakshmi actress has already been making news for her friendship with Abhishek Malhan and later, for her showdown with Falaq Naaz.

Talking about the nomination, we also hear that there is a twist added to the story. The contestants' individual BB currency was pooled together as the house money, and the housemates were asked to use this currency for nominations. As a result of which, Bebika, Jiya, Palak, and Avinash were nominated for eviction!

Since Iss baar Janta hai asli boss, it's time for the viewers to decide whose journey in the house will come to an end! The voting lines are open and it remains to be seen who will the audience choose to evict from the house.

Besides them, the other contestants include Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s estranged wife Aaliya Siddiqui, Falaq Naaz, Cyrus Broacha, Puneet Superstar, among others. Pooja Bhatt too surprised everyone by entering the Bigg Boss house and the show is hosted by Salman Khan.

One doesn’t need to have a lengthy screen time to make a mark. Deepak Tijori proved it in Ghulam (1998). He was there in just three scenes, all of which are arguably the most memorable parts of the Aamir Khan-Rani Mukerji starrer. The scene at the railway track has assumed cult status. As Ghulam celebrates its 25th anniversary on June 19, Bollywood Hungama went down memory lane and talked exclusively to Deepak Tijori about the film, his experience and a lot more.

How did you bag Ghulam? Ghulam went on floors 1 ½ years before its release. I knew about it and that it has a good script. I had no idea that someday, I’ll become a part of it. The makers were looking out for a suitable actor to play Charlie. Though it had little screen time, it was a very prominent character. They had considered a lot of actors, but nothing worked.

One fine day, I got a call from Mukesh ji (producer Mukesh Bhatt). Earlier, I had turned down a few of their films as I was not happy with my role or the script. Hence, the first thing Mukesh ji told me was, ‘Dekh, mujhe malum hai Tijori ki tujhe na bolne ki bahut aadat hai! Lekin tu ek baar pehle story aa ke sunn le’. I felt a little embarrassed as he’s such a senior man and he was talking me that way (smiles)! I assured him that I’ll surely come to their office and hear the narration.

Those were the days when a lot of people would call me to do cameos or small roles. Some of the biggest directors would narrate the whole script to me. I would learn that my part was so minuscule that even if they edit it out, it wouldn’t change the script at all. I have been blatant about it to a couple of big directors about it. I would ask them, ‘Boss, agar mera role nikal gaya, toh aap film bana paaoge?’. They were senior people and would get a jolt when I would ask this question. I would add, ‘I don’t mind that I am not doing the main role. The problem is that the film would be made even without my part. Toh fir mere role ka matlab nahin hai. Agar aapki film zyada lambi ho gayi, toh sabse pehle mera role katega na’!

I expected something similar for Ghulam as well. I met Vicky (director Vikram Bhatt) and I asked him to narrate only my scenes. He agreed. So, I didn’t know the story of the film, but I liked the way he narrated, and I also liked the script. This is when I learned that just like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), even here, it was Aamir Khan who recommended me. I was happy to know that. When I heard my part, I realized where Aamir is coming from.

After the narration, I told Vicky that I’ll do the film. I then met Mukesh ji and told him, ‘Main film kar raha hoon. Paise ki baat toh aapse kar nahin sakta kyunki aap jo dena chahte ho, wohi dete ho. Hum jitna maangte hai, utna toh aap dete nahin ho. Toh aap mujhe dates bata dena’! Mukesh ji started laughing and said, ‘Tu paagal aadmi hai’. I replied, ‘Jaisa hoon, aap hi ka hoon’! I have grown up in Bhatt saab and Mukesh ji’s office. I owed everything to them and still do. I always felt like they are family to me. So, whatever they would pay me, I would accept it.

How was it working with Rani Mukerji? Rani was very friendly and a very sweet girl. It was my first meeting with her. She had done a film earlier, but she was correct for her role in Ghulam. Aamir, I and Rani shared a great equation on the sets.

How was it to shoot the classic ‘Dus Dus Ki Daud’ scene on the railway track? Those days, there was no clear-cut thing that mera do din ka kaam hai ya paanch din ka kaam hai. It was like ‘Jitna scene ko time lagega, utne din hum lenge’. I came on the set and felt happy to see that the character was given more power than I had imagined. I was happy with the way the shoot progressed.

We shot in Sanpada. It’s quite far and used to take 1 ½ hours to reach the location. We shot there for 12 nights. Once in a while, Mukesh ji would land up on the sets and would keep pushing us. He used to tell us, ‘Theek se shoot karo. Poora yard book kiya hai yeh shoot ke liye. Bahut paise daale hai’ (laughs)! Anyway, we were working hard, and he motivated us even further.

During the shoot of ‘Dus Dus Ki Daud’ scene, Vicky fell ill. He could not come to the sets. It was a crazy situation. Mukesh ji panicked as he had booked the whole place. Even the local trains were running as per our requirements. It was a costly affair and for those days, it was an incredibly big sequence. There were more than 200 people on the sets including the action team and the actors playing the biker gang members.

Mukesh ji called Vicky and told him, ‘Tum phone pe direct karo. Bhatt saab phone pe direct karte hai. Tum bhi karo’! Vicky then called Aamir and told him, ‘Tu aur Deepak shoot kar lo yaar’. Aamir asked, ‘Shoot kar lo matlab kya shoot karein?’. Vicky replied, ‘Kuch bhi shoot kar lo. Close-up shots le lo’. Aamir then started taking some shots. However, then he realized that his vision will be different from that of Vicky’s. Hence he made it clear that he was not going to step into Vicky’s shoes. He then put the ball in my court and asked me to take charge. I categorically said, ‘Paagal ho gaya hai kya? Main nahin kar raha’ (laughs). This was the time when I was neither a director nor even thinking of being one. He then told Mukesh ji that he won’t be able to direct. Thankfully, from the next day onwards, Vicky resumed shooting though he was not fully well.

Did Aamir Khan shoot himself for the scene where he runs in the direction of the train? Yes. He is very diligent in that matter. He was devoted. Even in the rehearsals, he would run with full force.

How was it to shoot on the track with the train so close to you? For the last part of the shot, the junior artists were not there. There was only Aamir, me, the train motorman and some VFX guys. As per the scene, I trip on the tracks while running. I freeze and this is when Aamir pulls me out. Now we are used to this thing that ‘Gaadi ka driver brake maar dega time pe’. We expected the motorman to do the same. But he told us, ‘Dekho, mere paas aisa brake nahin hota hai. Tum log yeh mat sochna ki main brake maarunga aur gaadi ruk jaayegi. Tum log please distance rakhna. Accident nahin hona chahiye’. Aamir and I look at each other in fear and were like ‘Oh my God’ (laughs).

We rehearsed a couple of times to understand how much time the train takes to cover a distance. Accordingly, we decided when to move away from the tracks. Yet, we tried to make it as close and nail-biting as possible. It was scary as I was lying on the tracks and Aamir had to pull me. So, everything was depending on him. Thankfully, it went off well.

How do you look back at this scene? And what was the audience's reaction like? I thank Aamir for recommending me and giving me another feather in my cap. I’ll never forget the experience. It is one of the most memorable sequences of my career. I never thought these three scenes would become so iconic. The film also did well. Travelling to Sanpada for 12 nights was worth it!

It was amazing to see this scene in cinemas with the audience. There was a frenzy in the theatres. Unfortunately, some people took it too seriously and began emulating it in real life. I heard that some people even died while trying to do the stunt. It led to many people blaming us and asking us to be more careful while showing such stuff on screen. We then spread the word that these scenes are done by professionals or under professional guidance and that one must not attempt to copy the stunts. We also had to put a disclaimer. It was one of the first instances wherein disclaimers started being inserted in films.

I also remember there were a lot of claps for the scene where your character saves Siddhu (Aamir Khan) in the pre-climax… I remember we met for some occasion after the film was released. Aamir told me, ‘Tujhe pata hai, tu jab wapis aata hai na end mein, kya seetiyan aur taaliyan bajti hai theatre mein. Mereko samaj nahin aa raha hai tha ki film ka hero tu hai ya main hoon’ (laughs)!

Nevertheless, it was a team effort. We should also not forget scriptwriter Anjum Rajabali. He wrote an incredible script.

What was also unforgettable in the film was the song ‘Aati Kya Khandala’… Its lyricist Nitin Raikwar used to come on the sets. ‘Aati Kya Khandala’ was not even shot at that time. He used to make us hear the song. The moment he would go ‘Aye, Kya Bolti Tu’, we used to get amazed kyunki iss tarah ka lyrics bahut naya tha hamare liye. You won’t believe it, even before the song was recorded, the unit members were already singing ‘Aati Kya Khandala’ on the sets! Hence, we knew this is going to be a sure-shot hit.

Could you tell us which films of Bhatts did you turn down? It was Bhatt saab’s Angaaray (1998). It starred Akshay Kumar and Nagarjuna. I am like his child and when I refused to do the film, he was like, ‘Paagal hai tu. Samajta nahin hai’! I remember the producer, who’s also my friend, told me, ‘Tujhe set pe roz gaaliyan padti hai’ as I turned down the film! He does that to people whom he loves and cares for (smiles).
