Riding high on the success of Pathaan, filmmaker Siddharth Anand has now given two back-to-back blockbusters. After War and Pathaan, he has become the undisputed number-one director of his genre in India. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone & John Abraham, the film has already collected Rs. 591 crores gross worldwide! But, the film did face its fair share of controversies especially when boycott calls were made after ‘Besharam Rang’ was released. Several outfits had raised objections to Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron bikini. Speaking to Deadline, when asked if he was worried about the negativity around Pathaan ahead of its release, he said, “All I know is they tried to boycott Pathaan and audiences came out in large numbers and supported it. I think if you’re going to boycott something or raise your voice against it, there has to be some merit in that. It has to be substantiated with some facts and some reality. What they were trying to do with Pathaan was just ridiculous and the audience has given its verdict. There’s also been a huge amount of support for Shah Rukh who has been a soft target in recent years. That’s why the film has done such big numbers. There’s been such an outpouring of love – they came in wanting to like the film and not to judge it.” Talking about the recent surge of South movies doing really well in the North market and how Pathaan has broken several records, he added, “We’ve captured all four quadrants, families are going in large numbers, men, women, youth audience, across both multiplexes and single screens. It’s also firing in all territories. Earlier it was a little slow in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh because people were afraid of protests. That was on the first day. But by evening, the numbers started increasing. The South is also coming in with big numbers, not just the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, but they’re also coming for the original Hindi version because they want to hear Shah Rukh speaking in his original voice.” On the work front, Siddharth Anand is next directing Fighter headlined by Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. Varun Dhawan fans have been eagerly waiting to see the actor on the big screen and Bawaal added to anticipation as it was bringing together VD and Janhvi Kapoor for the first time on the big screen. However, it seems that they have to wait a little more since the latest update on that front is that the film is witnessing a few delays due to technical issues. Sources close to the film claimed that the Sajid Nadiadwala production may be pushed further because Nitesh Tiwari and the team of the film are keen on using a special kind of technology for the film. Sources claim that the filmmakers are quite ambitious about the onscreen presentation of Bawaal and hence are even shooting it using a special technology in Poland. Confirming the same, the director Nitesh Tiwari explained that in order to maintain the quality of the film, they decided to postpone its release, instead of compromising on the effects. He said, “The visual finesse we want to achieve on these sequences will need more time than we expected. We don’t want to cut short at anything because our purpose is to bring nothing but the best version of our vision to our viewers.” Readers would be aware that Bawaal was extensively shot in Poland wherein Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor were constantly seen sharing photos and videos on social media, giving a glimpse of the picturesque locations they shot the film in. Streaming giant Netflix is all set to celebrate the late legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra and his banner Yash Raj Films through the docu-series titled The Romantics. Directed by Smriti Mundhra, the show will be released on the Valentine’s Day on February 14 and it will be Netflix’s tribute to Chopra, who was known as ‘Father of Romance.’ Throwing more light on The Romantics, an official statement from the makers said, “The star-studded, four-part docu-series will feature 35 leading voices of the Hindi film industry and dive into the history of Bollywood through the lens of YRF’s impact in making Bollywood a household name globally. The global streaming giant will release the trailer of the docu-series in 190 countries tomorrow. Back in March 2022, Netflix announced that Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma were coming together to star in Sujoy Ghosh's untitled film. The film marks the digital debut of Kareena. It is a screen adaptation of one of Keigo Higashino’s most acclaimed novel, “The Devotion of Suspect X”. Now, Kareena has wrapped the project. Speaking to Variety, Kareena Kapoor described the Sujoy Ghosh project as “dramatically different”. “For me, it’s very different because obviously you’re used to seeing me in all the mainstream movies, which has the song, the dance, the gloss, the glamour. Both these films (Sujoy Ghosh & Hansal Mehta’s next projects) are shockingly different,” Kareena said. The film follows the story of a “single mother and her daughter who commit a crime and a neighbor who helps them cover it up amidst a police investigation.” The film is produced by 12th Street Entertainment, Northern Lights Films in association with Boundscript and Kross Pictures and marks Kareena Kapoor Khan’s streaming debut. Sujoy Ghosh will be producing the film along with Jay Shewakramani, Akshai Puri, and Thomas Kim. On another note, the actress has also wrapped the Hansal Mehta directorial, which is reportedly titled The Buckingham Murders. The film marks her debut as a producer along with Ekta Kapoor. “I love ‘Mare of Easttown’ and when Hansal came to me, I said this is something that I’ve really been dying to do. So we’ve molded a little bit on those lines, she plays a detective cop in that,” Kareena told Variety. “It’s the first time that I’ve dabbled in that.” The actress also said that the film is 80 percent shot in English and 20 percent in Hindi. It was extensively filmed in the UK. “I speak fluently in Hindi and I think also in Hindi because that’s been what I’ve been doing all my life,” she added. “When you’re thinking in Hindi, but speaking in English, it was actually a difficult task to do because it was the reverse situation for the first time.” “I never really thought that I would be a producer. But when I heard this subject, and the fact that it’s very different to a regular Hindi movie… it’s a very different, take to things. So I thought that will be really nice and different,” Kapoor Khan said. “And when Ektaa and Hansal told me that, ‘since you love the script so much, why don’t you come on board as a creative producer as well, and take some calls as to what you think also and give your name to it’ – after much thought, I thought that if I love something so much, and this is a character that I wanted to play, I think it’s fun to do it. It’s the first time. I don’t know if I’ll repeatedly do it. But let’s see.” With this film, Kareena Kapoor Khan turns producer. The project will be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Hansal Mehta. Ekta and Kareena Kapoor Khan previously teamed up on the comedy, Veeri Di Wedding in 2018. After much speculation surrounding the role on whom the film’s title is based, Anurag Kashyap reveals Vicky Kaushal as DJ Mohabbat in his directorial Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, co-starring Alaya F and Karan Mehta. This also marks the fourth collaboration between Anurag Kashyap and the actor, who plays a special role and will feature in a never-seen-before avatar in the coming-of-age romantic film. Talking about the special role of Vicky Kaushal in the film, Anurag Kashyap said, “The character of DJ Mohabbat is so integral to the story, that I wanted someone special to play it. DJ Mohabbat is the voice of love, and is the conduit between two stories and I wanted someone who is that. Someone everyone loves because they trust and believe him. Vicky is that to me since I’ve known him. Always speaks his heart, never forgets, is grateful to his audience and people and the characters he plays. When I asked ‘if not SRK then who?’. Anurag Kashyap recently made headlines where he expressed guilt over his public statement about his Dev.D actor Abhay Deol and privately about the late Sushant Singh Rajput. In an interview, Anurag accused Abhay of being difficult to work with, claiming that the actor insisted on staying in a five-star hotel separate from the rest of the cast and crew. Abhay had denied this.  Anurag had revealed shortly after Sushant's death that he had refused to speak with him about a project because he was resentful of being ghosted by the actor in the past. The filmmaker discussed his differences with Abhay and Sushant in a new interview with Showsha. He said, “It’s taken me a year-and-a-half of sickness to realise a lot of things. I was so reactive; I would say things. I would say things out of anger, out of reaction, to things I felt perturbed by. It took me time to realise that I’m shouting, I’m shouting in a room full of people shouting. Nobody’s listening to each other, not just to me. That’s what social media has become. And I stepped back. I said, ‘Why am I reacting to this? What is bothering me?'”  He further added, “A lot has changed, but I know I have no filter. But it’s also made me realise I don’t need to say everything… For example, that whole spat between me and Abhay. Somebody was doing an article about why a very good actor like Abhay is no longer in the movies, and I spoke about my experiences, something that happened 13 years ago. I didn’t need to say it publicly. And the day the unfortunate incident happened of SSR, I felt so bad. Three weeks prior to that somebody was trying to reach out because he wanted to talk, and I was like, ‘No, he ghosted me, I don’t want to talk’. You get pangs of guilt. So, I tried to reach out to Abhay and I apologised to him, because somebody had told me that he was upset about me speaking publicly about him.”  Anurag stated that he told Abhay that it was fine to yell at him and then apologised repeatedly for what he said. However, Abhay appeared to be upset about what Anurag had said about him as recently as last month. Abhay called the filmmaker a "liar" and a "toxic" person in an interview with mid-day. Anurag acknowledged that they had both changed and expressed regret for what he had said.  Anurag had stated in a 2020 interview with NDTV that he was disappointed that Sushant had backed out of projects with him in favour of more high-profile jobs. He stated, “YRF called him and said, ‘We’ll give you a deal. You do Shuddh Desi Romance.’ Sushant, who used to sit in my office with Mukesh and all of us used to sit together, signed up with YRF and dropped Hasee Toh Phasee, a film of an outsider because usko validation YRF ka chahiye tha (he wanted validation from YRF). It’s with every actor, so I am not holding any grudges… Years later, in 2016, before the release of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Mukesh went to Sushant and said, ‘Anurag has written a script looking for an actor who can play someone based out of Uttar Pradesh.’ Dhoni released, became a success and he never called me back. He had stated, “We want the euphoria around (Shah Rukh Khan’s) return to reach a crescendo by January 25, the release date of Pathaan. Thus, we will start all our promotional activities only post the release of the film.” Bollywood Hungama has now learnt that the much-awaited and impending event of Pathaan is expected to finally take place tomorrow. A source spilled the beans, “It is said that the event is expected take place on Monday, January 30, in Mumbai. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and Siddharth Anand will also make their presence felt. It’ll be one of the biggest events of the year. The media has been waiting to see Shah Rukh and to interact with him. As a result, a large turnout of the media is expected. The event will also get a huge viewership from fans and netizens as even they are curious to see what their favourite superstar has to say in his trademark witty style, especially after the way the film has performed at the box office.” Meanwhile, Pathaan has collected around Rs. 51 to 53 crores on Saturday at the domestic box office, as per early estimates. On Sunday, it is expected to earn even more, with the five-day collections closing at around Rs. 275 crores. In overseas, it is expected to cross the $20 million mark by Sunday, which will be a record of sorts. Sidharth Malhotra returns to his patriotic avatar with Mission Majnu but this time he was seen essaying the role of a 70s spy in Pakistan, working for India. Co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, the film premiered on Netflix a few days ago but it seems that the film has been facing a little backlash from Pakistanis for their misrepresentation. Joining the debate now is Pakistani star Adnan Siddiqui, who is known for his performance in Sridevi’s last film, Mom, in which he essayed the role of her husband. He took to social media to review the Shantanu Bagchi film and expressed his disappointment over the same. Adnan Siddiqui took to Instagram to share a long note about Mission Majnu and how it misrepresented Pakistanis and portrayed a very wrong image of the residents in the country. He also called out the stereotype perception of their habits. He started off the note by saying, “How much misrepresentation is too much misrepresentation? Bollywood has the answer. I mean come on, yaar with all the money you have, hire some good researchers to do homework on us. Or allow me to help. Make sure to take notes—no, we don’t wear skull caps, surma, tawiz; no, we don’t ask janab about their mijaz; no, we don’t go around throwing adaab.” He continued, “There’s so much in #MissionMajnu that’s distasteful & factually incorrect. The hero’s saviour complex would’ve accentuated more if the villain was shown at par. Jacqueline Fernandez, who is currently being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate owing to her alleged involvement in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs. 200 crore extortion case, has been granted the permission to travel abroad for professional commitments, albeit with certain conditions. The actress had earlier approached the Delhi Patiala High Court seeking the permit for travelling abroad to attend her scheduled performance for PepsiCo India conference where she was to perform at the Annual Bottlers Conference in Dubai. On Friday, the Delhi Patiala High Court granted permission to Jacqueline Fernandez to travel to Dubai after her counsel argued that the actress may face lawsuit from the brand for non-participation if she doesn’t make it to the conference. Considering the same, the court has granted her permission to travel but along with that it has also observed that it will come along with some conditions. Owing to the fact that the ED is still investigating the Sukesh Chandrashekhar case, for which, she has been named as a witnessed, the court has laid certain guidelines for the actress including a FDR of Rs. 1 crore, in case she doesn’t return. As per the court order, the actress is also expected to give a full disclosure of her stay details in Dubai including itinerary, arrival, and departure. In the past too, Jacqueline Fernandez had filed a plea seeking permission to travel but had withdrawn the same. While the counsel argued that the actress decided to cooperate in the investigation and decided against traveling for personal reasons, the current reason for her to insist on leaving for Dubai is because of the professional repercussions she may face if she doesn’t attend the event. On the other hand, the ED opposed it not only stating that the case is still under investigation but also pointing out that Jacqueline is a foreign national which increases the threat of her fleeing. After listening to both arguments, the court upheld its decision of allowing Fernandez to travel for the conference but keeping in mind the ongoing investigation of the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs. 200 crore extortion case, the court has asked the actress to strictly adhere to the guidelines that have been laid down. For the unversed, Jacqueline Fernandez is being investigated for her alleged relationship with Sukesh Chandrashekhar. While the actress claims to be a victim of the conman, the Enforcement Directorate is investigating and has filed multiple chargesheets regarding the same. Actress and designer Masaba Gupta got married to actor and lawyer Satyadeep Misra today through court marriage in Mumbai. Following this, the couple had a private ceremony for their near and dear ones in the same city. The latest poster and release date reveal of Fukrey 3 earlier this week became a reason for happiness for the fans of the comedy franchise. However, a major player from the franchise in the form of Ali Fazal was missing from the poster as well as the official press release. Ali has now broken the silence on his absence from the new announcement of the third film in the comedy franchise. The actor is unable to be a part of Fukrey 3 because his dates are clashing with the shoot of Mirzapur 3, the next season of Amazon Prime Video’s gangster show. A Mobile Digital Movie Theatre company called Picturetime known for its mission of bringing cinematic entertainment to the farthest corners of India, installed one of its state-of-the-art inflatable cinema screens in Leh, Ladakh earlier in 2021. The theatre is set up at a height of 11,562 ft, making it the world's top most spot to enjoy the latest Indian and international movies. For the residents of Leh, anticipation is at its peak for Shah Rukh Khan's much-awaited comeback in Pathaan is being screened in these inflatable theatres. While the current nail-biting temperature drops down to minus in Ladakh, with a unique ambient control theatre using state of an art heating facility, the audiences can comfortably watch the film at plus twenty degrees within the inflatable enclosure. The film will also be screened in these Mobile Digital Movie Theatres set up at Asifabad (Telegana) and Sardarshahar in Rajasthan and in Arunachal. Speaking of her comeback with Kumkum Bhagya with Times of India, Alisha asserted, “I have played positive roles, but I feel people have connected with my negative roles more. I played Tara in Ishq Mein Marjawan and people have been offering me negative roles after that.” Panwar further added, “I will play a negative role in Kumkum Bhagya too. I am an obsessive lover, who falls in love with the main lead (Krishna Kaul) and creates trouble in his life.” Elaborating about her character, Alisha said, “It is true that before the leap it was Tina who played a character madly in love with the main lead and now it will be my character after the leap. But my character is 10 times more vicious than Tina's and I am just glad that I am getting to work in a popular show like Kumkum Bhagya. The production house had earlier approached me for Nagin, but I could not do the show due to date issues.” She concluded by saying, “Earlier people used to slot if you did similar roles, but not anymore. I also acted in Meri Gudiya, where I played a positive role. In Ishq Main Marjawan, I played both positive and negative, so I don't think I will get slotted. Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has successfully bagged yet another award at Saudi Arabia. He expressed his gratitude and gave a heartfelt acceptance speech while receiving the award. The actor shared the same on social media.

Amitabh Bachchan bagged Lifetime Achievement Award at 2023 Joy Awards for his contribution to the Indian movies. Legendary actor Bachchan took to his Instagram and shared the video. The post incorporated several clips from the actor’s film, following which he can be seen giving a speech. “My immense gratitude for your affection and care .. and for the honour ..”, the actor captioned while sharing the video.

In his speech he mentioned that it was his first visit to Saudi, but won’t be his last. The actor said, “I’ve always believed that cinema is a medium of entertainment, and it is a medium that brings people together and integrates human society. We come from different walks of life and come from different paths of the world, but when we watch something, we laugh at the same jokes and cry at the same things. We come together at one platform.”

“My father, a great poet - during the last days of his life, he used to watch a Hindi film every evening, sometimes repeating the same film every time. I asked him what is it that you find interesting in cinema. He said that I get poetic justice in three hours. You and I won’t get poetic justice in a lifetime or several lifetimes. That’s the power of cinema. I’m proud to be a very small part of the film industry of my country. When you honour me today, you honour the film industry of my country, you honour my country,” he further added.

Amitabh was accompanied by his family members including Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan in Saudi Arabia.

On the work front, Amitabh was last seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai. The actor has Project K in his pipeline, starring alongside Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.

The 2023 Oscars are right around the corner. Before that, the nominations are an important milestone. The nominations for the 2023 Oscars are out and three of India’s projects were nominated. ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR for Best Original Song, The Elephant Whisperers for Best Documentary Short Film and Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes for Best Documentary Feature Film.

All That Breathes follows the story of two brothers Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad. In one of the world’s most populated cities, two brothers — Nadeem and Saud — devote their lives to the quixotic effort of protecting the black kite, a majestic bird of prey essential to the ecosystem of New Delhi that has been falling from the sky at alarming rates. Amid environmental toxicity and social unrest, the ‘kite brothers’ spend day and night caring for the creatures in their makeshift avian basement hospital.

Director Shaunak Sen explores the connection between the kites and the Muslim brothers who help them return to the skies, offering a mesmerizing chronicle of inter-species coexistence.

On the nomination day, many team members met each other in New Delhi to watch the Oscars 2023 nominations while others including Shaunak Sen who is currently in Los Angeles joined via zoom call. Producer Aman Mann told News18, “It is very hard to describe what we all felt at the moment the nominations came through, the entire journey that film has had is extremely dream-like and we are just happy, relieved and grateful for how well the film has been accepted and appreciated. On behalf of the entire team, I can clearly say that it feels good to think that hopefully, this means that we were able to do justice to the story of our characters.”

The 95th Oscars ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will take place on March 12.

After Chanakya was put on the back burner, Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Pandey decided to collaborate on another project. It was announced in October last year without any of the two sharing any details about the genre. Bollywood Hungama has discovered that the film in question is a romantic thriller set in 2 eras.

"Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Pandey's next is set in the late 90s and the present times. It's a romantic thriller, whose story begins in the 1990s and then takes a 20-year leap switching to the present," a source told Bollywood Hungama, adding further that the younger portion is played by Saiee Majrekar and a young actor, whereas the older portion will see Ajay Devgn with Tabu.

It's a one of its kind film for Indian cinema and both Ajay and Neeraj are confident to win over their audience with their thriller. The film begins soon in Lucknow with a start-to-finish schedule. "Ajay Devgn has 25 days of work in the thriller and will complete all of it in one go. He will be shooting with Tabu soon in Lucknow," the source further told us.

The movie was announced for a June 2023 release, but we hear it has now been pushed further to the last quarter of 2023 and a new date will be announced once the shooting is wrapped up. Ajay will next be seen in Bholaa, which is all set for a March 30 release.

The makers of the upcoming thriller Afwaah, Anubhav Sinha and Sudhir Mishra are all set to release their film on the big screen on February 24, 2023. The film has already grabbed everyone’s attention with its quirky pairing of power performers Nawazuddin Siddiqui, & Bhumi Pednekar and is now gearing up for theatrical release.

Producer Anubhav Sinha says, “Working on Afwaah was creatively fulfilling as a producer. Sudhir and I have been friends for many years and I am happy to bring this film to the audience. It is an intriguing story and the performances of powerhouse talents like Bhumi and Nawaz only add weightage and gravitas to the characters. ”

Director Sudhir Mishra shares, “Afwaah is a thriller which speaks of a very important message in the current times. I am glad that the release date is finally out and I am really looking forward to its release. The super-talented combo of Bhumi and Nawaz have given their best to this unconventional story and I am sure the audience is going to love watching them on the big screen.”

Not too long ago we had reported that how Gujarat multiplex association requested for police intervention owing to multiple threats they received during the Pathaan release. While the film is expected to hit the big screens on January 25, ever since the release of the song ‘Besharam Rang’ last month, it has been facing backlash from some Hindu community groups for various reasons which also includes the film being a part of the Boycott Bollywood trend on social media. Amidst the controversy, Kareena Kapoor Khan, whose last film Laal Singh Chaddha faced a similar situation in certain areas of India, opened up about this trend and requested people to not continue it because it will lead to the end of the entertainment industry.

Kareena Kapoor Khan recently attended the Indian Chamber of Commerce-Young Leaders Forum event where she opened up about this trend, "If that happens, how will we entertain? How will you have the joy and happiness in your life, which, I think everybody needs! Agar films nahi hogi toh entertainment kaisa hoga (If there are no films, how will everyone get entertained).” For the unversed, the Boycott Bollywood trend kick started with many taking objection to films that offended their sentiments. While Laal Singh Chaddha faced some protests because of certain remarks made by Aamir Khan years ago, Pathaan has been facing issues because of a saffron bikini worn by Deepika Padukone in the song, ‘Besharam Rang’. Besides that, many of them have also taken objection to certain dance moves in the film.

However, these are not the only films who have been a victim of Boycott Bollywood trend on social media. Even big budget entertainers like Brahmastra as well as the Akshay Kumar film Rakshabandhan were slammed by social media users.

Coming to Kareena Kapoor Khan, she has addressed this trend yet again after she spoke up about it even during the release of Laal Singh Chaddha, wherein she had even requested everyone to watch the film instead of boycotting ‘good cinema’. Despite the requests, the film failed to take off at the box office.

A few days back, there were reports about the teaser of Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan likely to be attached to the print of Shah Rukh Khan’s keenly-awaited upcoming action thriller Pathaan. Now it is official that the audience will get a glimpse of Bhai in the upcoming film, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.

The news is shared by the veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh on his official Twitter page. He shared an image of the announcement and wrote, “SALMAN KHAN: 'KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN' TEASER WITH ‘PATHAAN’... Teaser of #SalmanKhan's #KisiKaBhaiKisiKiJaan with #Pathaan... #Eid 2023 release.”

Sharing the announcement Salman Khan as well took to social media posting an image saying, “#KisiKaBhaiKisiKiJaan Teaser ab dekho bade parde par on 25th Jan...”

Directed by Farhad Samji, the film was earlier titled Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali but was later changed. Produced by Salman Khan Films, it also stars Pooja Hegde and Shehnaaz Gill. Going by Salman’s look in the film, it is yet another action saga featuring him.

Along with Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, the audience will also get to see the trailers of the Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Selfiee and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, with Pathaan.

Produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, Pathaan is an action thriller where SRK’s titular character takes it upon himself to save India from a major terrorist attack. The film will be released in theatres worldwide on January 25.

Richa Chadha, who is known as an actress par excellence, will next be seen performing the role of a frontline worker during the second wave of the Covid crisis. The upcoming untitled film will be produced under the banner of Zee Studios.

Talking about the same, the 36-year-old actress says, “This is based on those real incidents that we all witnessed during the second wave of Covid. While there was loss and despair, there was also hope. In fact, I was so moved by this kindness of strangers that I started The Kindly, a small social media initiative that only amplified stories of goodness, and the selflessness through the second wave.”

The Fukrey actress further added, “The film takes a hard look at all our lives during the pandemic, where we were afraid to be human, there was enforced and mandatory distance. It talks about the doctors and nurses who were doing their job selflessly. I am honoured to play the role of one such resilient nurse.” 

The film is directed by Abhishek Acharya. Apart from that Richa has wrapped up the shoot of Girls will be Girls, the first movie of her co-owned home production. The film is an Indo-French co-production which is being jointly produced by Pushing Buttons Studios, Crawling Angel Films and the French company, Dolce Vita Films.

Post the nationwide lockdown, Bollywood celebs reported back on the sets of their upcoming films. The pandemic restrictions were still applicable and very few came out and started shooting. One of them was Kartik Aaryan. His first release post the Covid-19-induced lockdown was Dhamaka, which was released on Netflix. There were rumours that Kartik Aaryan charged Rs 20 crores for the ten-day shoot of Dhamaka.

Reacting to the speculations, Kartik Aaryan confessed that it is true! It all happened when the actor recently made his debut on TV’s popular talk show Aap Ki Adalat, hosted by Rajat Sharma. He asked the actor to address the rumours of him charging Rs 20 crores for a shoot of a film during the pandemic.

During the episode, the host told the actor that he had become 'so obsessed' with himself that after earning 'sava lakh (Rs 1.25 lakh)' in his first film (Pyaar Ka Punchnama), he was now asking for Rs 20 crores. On this, he smiled and said, “Woh to dus din ki hai (This was for 10 days).” Though the actor immediately said that he was “joking” about it, Rajat said, “No, you are not joking. For the film you shot during the Covid-19 pandemic in 10 days, you took Rs 20 crore,” in Hindi.

Explaining his take on the same, the Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety actor asserted, “Yes, during the Covid-19 pandemic I had shot Dhamaka for 10 days and that was my remuneration. I make my producers earn double the money in 20 days, so I think I deserve what I am paid.”

Coming to the professional front, the 32-year-old actor was last seen in Freddy, which was released on Disney+ Hotstar. He has a bunch of projects in his kitty, including Shehzada, an untitled Kabir Khan directorial, Satyaprem Ki Katha, and Aashiqui 3, among others.

Over the years, Bollywood actor Abhay Deol has made a name for himself with his spectacular performances in a number of films, and missing out on Dev D among them is nearly impossible. However, following the film, Abhay had a fallout with its director Anurag Kashyap. In 2020, Anurag had said in an interview that it was “painfully difficult” to work with Abhay because of his starry demands during the shoot.

Earlier this week, Abhay finally broke his silence over the matter in an interview with Mid-Day and called Anurag “liar” and “toxic.” Now, Anurag has responded to Abhay’s allegations through a conversation with the same publication. The filmmaker said, “It is okay if that is how he feels. Everyone has their own version of the truth. Maybe he felt attacked about what I had spoken about him earlier. I have personally apologised to him for hurting his feelings.”

He further added, “What I said was what he was (like) in the past. We all evolve with time. He has done a great job in (Trial by Fire). I think it is time to celebrate his strong performance rather than playing the ping-pong of who said what.”

For the unversed, in 2020, Anurag had recalled working with Abhay in Dev D and said that the actor wanted to do artistic movies but also wanted the “mainstream benefits”, and the “luxuries of being a Deol”. He also claimed that Abhay would “stay in a five-star hotel while the entire crew stayed in Paharganj” in Delhi as the film “was made on a very tight budget”.

While commenting on the same in the aforementioned interview, Abhay reacted to the comments saying, “I had my heart on my sleeve, and all that is great – but you get taken advantage of, and then you get reactive. So, he (Anurag Kashyap) was a good lesson for me. Then I just avoided him, because I don’t need toxic people in my life. Life is too short, and there is so much more to explore. But he (Anurag) is definitely a liar and a toxic person. And I would warn people about him.”

Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol were a formidable director-actor pair in the 1990s with films like Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak gaining the status of iconic films. Following this, the two did try coming together again but things never fell in place. But now, after around 27 years, the two have joined hands for a film titled Lahore: 1947.

Santoshi shared the news during a conversation with PinkVilla. He also revealed that the film will go on floors soon and it will be “bigger” than his earlier films with Sunny. “Yes, my immediate next film is called Lahore: 1947. It’s set against the backdrop of partition with Sunny Deol in lead. Sunny and I were trying to make a film for a long time but nothing worked out. But now, I am confident that this film will be bigger than Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak,” said the filmmaker.

Sharing more details about the shoot, Santoshi added, “If everything goes as planned, we will take the film on floors from March 1 in Mumbai. We will be creating Lahore city in a studio. The set is a part of the story and a large chunk of film will be shot on this set. It’s a very ambitious film. This is my dream. I have been planning to make it for the last 10 years and things have finally fallen into place. I plan to wrap up Lahore: 1947 by May and then proceed to its post-production.”

Years ago, it was believed that there was a rift between Santoshi and Sunny, which reportedly escalated further when both of them released a film each on the revolutionary Bhagat Singh on the same day in 2002 titled The Legend Of Bhagat Singh and 23^rd March 1931: Shaheed respectively.

Lahore: 1947 will be Sunny's second movie on partition after the all-time blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001). Interestingly, the sequel to the film, titled Gadar 2, is currently in the making.
